On the other hand, sausage is a food that most people also love. It packs a lot of nutrients such as protein, calories, fats, and some fibers to help you make those muscles.

While at first, combining the two sounds a little bit out of the normal. But once you have tasted it, there is no going back and you are going to look for that meaty taste every time you eat a pizza.

Pizza has been around for so long and it is still considered as one of the best foods that mankind has ever made. It has spread from Italy to most parts of the world.

Due to this major spread of this delicious food, there have been many versions of it. Some are culturally inclusive where they put traditional food on the pizza to get a great flavor of home in it.

Some may also contradict with spicy pizza but we almost find it delicious. In fact, it has been one of those recipes that have changed throughout the years and most people love it spicy.

So in this recipe, we figured out why not make it more indulging by putting something spicy in it, right? So we did and we have the recipe for you to make it in your own home.

This recipe will be one of the easiest recipes that you have cooked. If you have all the ingredients ready, then this recipe will be finished in just fifteen minutes so let’s get started!

SPICY Sausage Pizza

Ingredients

– 1 ball of homemade pizza dough (or you can go for store-bought pizza dough)

– 3/4 pounds of spicy sausage

– 2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese

– Half cup of marinara sauce

– 1/4 cup of thinly sliced onions

– 1/4 cup of thinly sliced sweet peppers

– 1 tablespoon of chili oil

– 1 tablespoon of crushed red pepper

Procedure

Step 1. Preheat the Oven

Before doing anything else, you should start your oven and preheat it to 475 degrees Fahrenheit. Usually, with other pizzas, we recommend preheating it at 425 degrees.

However, with this recipe, you will need a hotter oven because of the sausage. They are considered thick toppings so you need to cook them under much more heat.

While preheating, place the rack of the oven at the bottom so that it will be ready and once the pizza is done, you can easily slide it into the oven.

By preheating the oven ahead of time, you are going to have more oven spring which is the one responsible for making the dough or the pizza crust rise inside the oven.

Step 2. Cook the Sausage

In order to keep up with the fast-cooking ingredients of the pizza, you will need to cook the sausage ahead of time so that it does not come raw after putting it in the oven.

So heat up a pan or a skillet and then drizzle some oil in. Once the oil is heated, put the sausage in the pan and then start crushing the sausage with a spatula.

Make sure that they come out in bits so that you can spread them as evenly as possible on the pizza later on. After crushing the sausages, simply fry them halfway through.

You are going to cook it halfway through because it will continue cooking in the oven once you put the pizza on. Remove the sausages from the pan, this pre-cooking will take less than 3 minutes.

Place the sausage on a plate that is covered with paper towels to let the moisture and the oil drip out of the sausages.

Step 3. Stretch the Dough

While the sausages are resting, you can go to the pizza and you can start by stretching the homemade dough into a 12-inch circle.

You can use a pizza stone but if in case you do not own one, then you can go for a pizza pan. Spray it with a non-stick spray or sprinkle some flour on it.

Place the pizza into the floured pizza pan. Make sure that you have stretched the pizza with no holes or thick areas on it.

Step 4. Sauce and Toppings

After placing the dough on the pizza pan, spread the marinara sauce evenly on top of it. Leave a one-inch border on the sides of the dough.

Sprinkle the sausages, onions, and peppers over the marinara sauce and then top it all off with the cheese on top. Make sure that you have spread the ingredients evenly.

Step 5. Baking

Place the pizza into the oven and let it bake for 15 minutes rotating it halfway through the cooking. This should be the maximum time as the oven is pretty hot by now.

So if before that 15-minute mark the pizza crust turns brown and the cheese has melted, you can then remove it from the oven.

Step 6. Serving

Once out of the oven, drizzle the chili oil on the pizza and then add some red pepper flakes. Let the pizza rest on a table for about 5 minutes and then slice and serve!

Notes:

1. You can use a store-bought dough or marinara. There is nothing too different about them so if store-bought is more convenient for you, then you can go for that.

2. If you want to make the pizza even spicier, we suggest that you add more red pepper flakes or even better, add a teaspoon of chili oil in the marinara before spreading it.

Tips

When making a pizza, it is great that you have all the cookware that you need as well as the skills and of course, time. So we have some tips here that will help you in cooking.

Use a Pizza Stone

This might be new to you when you are just starting to indulge in cooking pizza, but we think that this is the best cookware or stoneware that you are going to get.

A pizza stone is some sort of a platform where you are going to cook the pizza on. It is a flat stone with a porous surface and it does really well with pizzas and other baked goods.

It is basically a pizza pan but it is made out of stone. So consider investing in a pizza stone and see how it creates the most amazing, crispy yet chewy crust in your pizza.

Be Creative

You can add any other toppings on this recipe. For us, we added the onions and the sweet peppers on the pizza in order to contradict the spiciness of the sausage.

If you do not want any sweet ingredients in the recipe, you can go for just the sausage and cheese and maybe garnish the pizza with some fresh basil or parsley leaves.

Use a Pizza Oven

Pizza ovens are truly the best. There are a lot of companies that are developing portable pizza ovens and they are the most amazing equipment ever.

They are small and compact so you can bring them on camping trips and outdoor activities, plus they give off a lot of heat so it means that in just less than 5 minutes or so, your pizza will be cooked.

Conclusion

Spicy food is not for everyone but we believe that you can go for it. It is basically an acquired taste and the more you try it, the more tolerable it will be.

This recipe is perfect for the winter months. As the cold creeps in, you get nice warmth from a pizza with a lot of spiciness in it so you can enjoy both the food and the weather contradicting each other.

This is basically just the base of a recipe so it means that you can go for anything that you want to put in it. Again, be creative so that you can create your own version of the pizza.

Improvisation is one of the best qualities that we have and if you apply that in this recipe, you are going to find the most amazing pizza that you have ever had.

Add seasonal vegetables or other ingredients that are available to you. Really, this is just a basic recipe that you can do and alter so go ahead and try it for your next dinner!
