Shrimp Scampi Pizza

Ingredients

– 1 ball of dough

– Half pound of medium shrimp

– 2 cups of shredded Italian cheese

– 2 tablespoons of lemon juice

– 1 tablespoon of freshly minced garlic

– 2 tablespoons of butter

– 2 tablespoons of olive oil

– 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese

– 1/4 cup of white wine

– 1/2 teaspoon of oregano

– 1/2 teaspoon of Italian seasoning

Procedure

Step 1. Preheat the Oven

Before proceeding to the food itself, you will need to preheat the oven first so that it garners more oven spring which will make the pizza dough rise properly.

So if you own a regular home oven, go ahead and preheat the oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit or if a pizza oven is available, then go set it up at the highest temperature.

Step 2. The Shrimp

If you cannot find shrimps that are peeled and deveined, then you can buy the regular fresh ones and do it yourself.

This might be a tedious task but as you go through it, it will become easier. So, get a pair of scissors and cut through the middle of the shrimp and peel the shell off.

After that, you can get a fork and remove the vein from the meat. You will easily see it as the meat is transparent and the vein is black and can be found on the back of the shrimp.

Step 3. Cook the Sauce

While waiting for the oven to preheat, start cooking the sauce. Put a skillet over medium heat and melt the butter together with the olive oil.

Add the garlic until it becomes fragrant while continuously stirring. Add the wine, oregano, and the lemon juice and bring it to simmer for 1 minute.

Put the shrimps in the skillet and let them cook halfway through or just when they are beginning to turn pink. Remove the shrimps from the mixture and let them rest on a plate.

Turn off the heat and set the mixture of juices aside.

Step 4. The Dough

Stretch the ball of dough into a 12-inch circle making sure that it is even and there are no holes in it. Flour a pizza pan and place it in the oven.

You will need to pre-cook the dough as well since the other ingredients are also cooked already. Let it bake for only 4 minutes in the oven and then take it out of the oven again.

Step 5. Arrange the Pizza

Place the dough on your workspace and then lightly brush the mixture of juices over it. 1/4 cup of the mixture will be enough.

Put the 1/2 cup of cheese over the sauce and evenly distribute the shrimps on top of it. Get the other half cup of cheese and sprinkle it over the pizza.

Sprinkle the Italian seasoning on top and then bake the pizza.

Step 6. Baking

Return the pizza into the oven and bake for 6 to 8 minutes. If the cheese has melted and the crust has turned golden brown, take the pizza out of the oven and let it sit for a few minutes.

Top with Parmesan cheese, slice, and then serve!

Notes

1. Garnish is also great in this recipe. You can put freshly chopped basil leaves or parsley to give the pizza a more refreshing taste.

2. Always pre-cook the shrimp so that it does not come raw when you take it out of the oven. Do this in any meat topping as well.

Tips

Making a pizza is pretty easy, right? Yes, but you still have to consider some things to make it better and to do that, you will need some guides and tips to help you with your cooking.

Use a Pizza Stone

While we used a pizza pan in this recipe, we still recommend that you use a pizza stone since it is the cookware that lets you cook pizza in the most amazing way.

It has a porous surface that absorbs all the unnecessary moisture from the dough making it crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside once it comes out of the oven.

A pizza stone also gives more heat to the pizza when it is preheated with the oven. This is because it is made out of materials that are very great at retaining heat.

So as much as possible, use a pizza stone to get the best results on your pizza, especially the crust.

Keep it thin

As much as possible, do not put toppings on top of each other. Keep the pizza thin and place the toppings on the crust in an even manner.

This will prevent the soggy texture that you find in some crusts. The moisture and the density of the toppings will affect the quality of the crust.

So unless you want a soggy, wet crust, then avoid putting too many toppings on the pizza and keep it thin. That is unless you are making a deep-dish pizza.

Be Creative

We have almost always advised this to our readers. Be as creative as you possibly can and put any ingredients that you want in your pizza.

This pizza recipe above can be your basis and you can add some seafood or meat that you want and you never know, maybe you will create another pizza flavor unlike any other.

Conclusion

Pizza is the definition of a blank canvas. You can freely put any ingredients in it and create the most unorthodox flavor that you can and most likely, it will turn out great.

As you may have already noticed, there are a lot of variations of pizzas all over the world. Different cities of different cultures have created their own versions of pizza.
