Pizza Hut Copycat Cheese Bread Recipe- Easy and Delicious!
If you’ve ever had cheese breadsticks from Pizza Hut, you’ll want to try this incredibly easy copycat recipe at home.
I have to admit, after learning how to make these, I regretted ordering them from Pizza Hut every time. Imagine all the time and money saved!
What if I told you you could whip up these cheesy breadsticks in under 15 minutes?
That might sound bold, but there’s a catch—if you’re making pizza dough from scratch, you’ll need a few hours.
But if you’ve got some leftover pizza dough, these cheese breadsticks can be on your table in 15 minutes.
This recipe is easy to follow whether you make your own dough, use leftovers, or opt for canned or store-bought pizza dough.
If you don’t like store-bought pizza dough, I’ll share my recipe so you can achieve perfect cheese breadsticks every time.
The Dough recipe
250 grams of All Purpose flour
1 tbsp of Instant yeast
125 ml of water
1 tbsp of salt
3/4 tbsp of Honey
4 tbsp of Olive Oil(or butter)
Steps to make the dough
1. Making the dough is the easiest part—combine all the ingredients, except for the olive oil, in a bowl and mix until you form a smooth, homogeneous ball.
2. Let the dough rest for about an hour. Afterward, add the olive oil, one tablespoon at a time, and start kneading the dough. Continue kneading for 5-7 minutes until all the 4 tbsps of olive oil is incorporated slowly and the dough becomes smooth and shiny.
3. Now, let the dough rest for 4-5 hours. Once ready, you can make cheese breadsticks, pizzas, stromboli, calzones, or garlic knots.
You can also use Bobby Flay’s pizza dough recipe, but to get the best results, be sure to knead the dough with a bit of oil.

Read the recipe card for detailed instructions..
1. Roll out the dough.
2. Spread a thin layer of the herb and butter mixture.
3. Now cut the dough and spread some cheese on top.
4. Preheat the oven and cook them for about 15 minutes at 200°C.
Things to remember while making the cheese breadsticks
1. Preheat your oven to 200°C for 15 minutes before cooking the cheese breadsticks. If you skip this step, the breadsticks may not cook properly and remain raw. Preheating the oven is crucial to achieving perfectly cooked Pizza Hut-style cheese breadsticks.
2. Oil the surface where the cheese breadsticks are placed to ensure they get a nice, crispy bottom.
3. Add the cheese at the beginning and cook it with the dough. Mozzarella cheese won’t burn within the 13-15-minute cooking time. For the best results, be sure to use dry mozzarella cheese and freeze it before topping it on the cheese breadsticks.
4. You can brush on spices of your choice, but I like to spread a blend of butter, rosemary, oregano, and dried basil on top of my cheese breadstick dough.
5. Once you’ve cooked the cheese breadsticks, let them cool for 2-3 minutes before cutting them into pieces. This allows the dough to finish cooking properly and ensures the best results.
How do you serve these cheese breadsticks?
Two incredibly delicious dip recipes pair perfectly with these Pizza Hut copycat cheese breadsticks.
One is a savory cooked pizza sauce, and the other is a creamy white pizza sauce.
Both of these dips complement the cheese breadsticks beautifully. You might also enjoy pairing them with sauces like chili garlic or sweet garlic hot sauce.

Pizza Hut Copycat Cheese Breadsticks Recipe
Equipment
- 1 Convection oven
Ingredients
- 150 grams Pizza Dough Ball
- 2 tbsp Butter
- 1 tsp Rosemary
- 2 tsp Oregano
- 2 tsp Basil
- 5 cloves finely crushed garlic or 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 cup Mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Roll out the pizza dough into a circle. Ideally, cut the dough into vertical strips and then once in the middle horizontally. I did this after layering it with the butter mix and some cheese.
- Place the dough on a baking sheet, and make sure to apply oil or butter to the sheet. This will help the cheese breadsticks become extra crispy and achieve a nice browning on the bottom. Greasing the baking pan also prevents the breadsticks from sticking to the bottom while baking, though this is rare, it's always better to be safe.
- Mix together melted butter, rosemary, garlic, oregano, and basil. Spread this mixture evenly across the dough to add a burst of flavor to your cheese breadsticks. This blend really enhances the taste and makes them delicious. Be sure to reserve some of the mixture to brush on top of the breadsticks after they’re baked for an extra layer of flavor.
- Next, spread mozzarella cheese evenly over the dough, covering it completely while leaving a small border around the edges. This helps prevent the cheese from overflowing during baking.
- Make sure to preheat your oven to 200°C for 15 minutes before baking. Skipping this step can result in undercooked cheese breadsticks. Once preheated, bake the cheese breadsticks at 200°C for 13-15 minutes, or until they are golden and crispy.
