Cheesy Stuffed Garlic Bread Recipe (Chicken Salami+Bell pepper)

This cheesy stuffed garlic bread recipe is very, very similar to a calzone, but hey, that’s just how stuffed garlic breads are!

I wanted to give this recipe my twist, so I stuffed it with chicken salami and bell peppers, along with a delicious white sauce (which I’ve shared on my blog). The result was delicious!

Once you make this garlic bread, you’ll never go back to another recipe. It’s probably the best garlic bread you’ve ever had because it combines a few delicious recipes that I’ve shared on my blog.

You’re absolutely going to love this garlic bread, just like my family did. They couldn’t stop eating it!

I used my Roasted garlic and herb butter recipe, along with my White pizza sauce recipe, to make this stuffed garlic bread inspired by Domino’s.

You can change the sauce, but I highly recommend the white pizza sauce—it’s so good! Of course, a classic red sauce works too, but trust me, this version is next-level. You can even swap the toppings and use toppings of your liking.

I’ve made this recipe so many times that I could eat it daily! It’s my absolute favorite, and I urge you to try it—because I know once you do, you’ll be making it again and again!

This cheesy stuffed garlic bread recipe is perfect for game day, Super Bowl parties, Thanksgiving appetizers, Christmas gatherings, or even a casual Fourth of July cookout. Basically, any time you need a cheesy, garlicky, pull-apart snack that everyone will love.

Ingredients for Stuffed Garlic Bread

Pizza Dough – Around 150 grams, a dough ball enough for a medium-sized or personal-sized pizza works well for making garlic bread. You can use homemade or store-bought pizza dough for this recipe.

White Sauce – For this recipe, I used white sauce, but you can use any other sauce you want including pizza sauce. You can also stuff it with just white sauce and mozzarella cheese. I personally chose white sauce because it gives a creamy texture that complements the garlic bread beautifully.

Garlic Butter – This is one of my favorite recipes from my blog and I will be using it generously in this recipe! It’s incredibly easy to make, and you can prepare it in just a few minutes. Make sure to check out my compound butter recipe, as we’ll be using it in this garlic bread. It adds a rich, garlicky flavor that makes this recipe stand out.

Chicken Salami – I used frozen chicken salami, cut into pieces, as a filling inside the garlic bread. You can use any filling of your choice, such as olives, mushrooms, or even different meats like pepperoni or cooked chicken.

Bell Peppers – I used green bell peppers in this recipe and loved how well the flavor blended with the rest of the ingredients. However, you can swap them for any other topping of your choice or just go for a cheese-only version to get a nice, gooey cheese pull.

Mozzarella cheese- You can add Mozzarella cheese for the cheesy pull apart bread. After all garlic bread as an appetizer is known for its classic cheese pull. I have not used mozzarella cheese in this recipe because I thought I filled it up with too much of the white cheese sauce, but if you want, you can add this too.

I tried my favourite combo with this recipe, but you can experiment with different toppings to make it your own. No matter what you add, this stuffed garlic bread will turn out delicious!

Tips for Making the Perfect Garlic Bread

1. Don’t Overdo the Sauce- I’ve mistakenly used too much sauce inside the stuffing, and trust me, it was a disaster. The sauce started dripping out midway through baking, making a huge mess inside my oven.

Avoid this by using just the right amount of cheese or white sauce. Too much of either will melt and expand while baking, leading to a messy outcome.

2. Make Indents on the Garlic Bread- This step might seem small, but it really matters! The indents allow steam to escape, ensuring even cooking.

If you skip this, too much steam will get trapped inside, making the bread puff up unpredictably. Plus, the indents make it easier to pull apart and eat once it’s done baking.

3. Don’t Forget the Garlic Butter- Garlic butter is the heart of this recipe, so don’t skip it! Without it, your bread won’t have that classic garlic flavor, and it won’t truly be garlic bread. Make sure to use a lot of roasted garlic butter on top once it’s done baking.

4. Preheat the Oven Properly- Always preheat your oven before baking! If you don’t, your garlic bread won’t cook evenly, and the cooking time will increase unnecessarily.

5. Use the Right Baking Method- If you’re using a regular baking tray, place the garlic bread closer to the lower heating element for 6 minutes, then move it closer to the upper heating element for another 5–6 minutes.

If you have a pizza stone, you can bake it faster, but you need to preheat the baking stone for about 20 minutes at 200°C. Just use the upper heating element and bake for around 5–6 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 150 grams Dough
  • 1-1.5 tbsp White Pizza Sauce(Cheese Sauce)
  • 4-5 Slices Bell Pepper
  • 3-4 Slices Chicken Salami
  • Mozzarella Cheese(Optional)

Instructions

  • First, take pizza dough and roll it out using a rolling pin.
  • Spread some white sauce, and your desired fillings in the center of the dough. Just make sure not to spread the cheese or sauce too close to the edges, and don’t overdo the cheese.
If you add too much, the cheese and sauce might ooze out while baking, leaving you with a messy, demolished garlic bread. About 1.5 tablespoons of cheese sauce is more than enough.
  • Next, place your toppings on top, then carefully fold the dough over to seal the garlic bread. Press the edges firmly to close it properly—this step is important to keep everything intact while baking. Brush the top of the dough with some butter.
  • Now, take a knife and make light indents on top of the garlic bread. These will act as guides for cutting the bread later, making it easy to pull apart once baked.
  • Baking Instructions- Preheat the convection oven to 200°C (390°F) for about 15 minutes. Place the garlic bread closer to the lower heating element and bake for 6 minutes at 200°C (356°F). Then, move it closer to the upper heating element and bake for another 5 minutes. Your garlic bread will be perfectly baked in just 11 to 12 minutes!
  • Brush the roasted garlic butter on top once it’s baked. The roasted garlic combined with melted butter will take the flavor to another level, and this butter gives this garlic bread its flavor, so do not skimp on the garlic butter.
  • Enjoy the garlic bread. This garlic bread is perfect for game nights, movie nights, or even as a snack for football gatherings. You can serve it with white sauce, marinara sauce, or classic pizza sauce—it tastes amazing!
