White Pizza Sauce Recipe- Quick and SO Easy!

If you have never tried any pizza sauce alternative, then this white pizza sauce recipe will change your pizza game.

White Garlic Sauce is a great pizza sauce alternative as it is creamy, cheesy, and delicious.

You can use this pizza sauce with pasta, as a dip for steamed vegetables, breadsticks, or pizza. It can also be used to make a white sauce pizza.

So, is this white pizza sauce recipe unique?

Yes, considering that it makes your pizza so much creamier, this is the best pizza sauce alternative as it is easy to make and takes not more than ten minutes.

From a cooking perspective, white pizza sauce is ‘similar’ to bechamel sauce. However, this white garlic pizza sauce recipe is not the same as Bechamel.

Why make this White pizza Sauce Recipe?

This creamy garlic white pizza sauce recipe is a perfect alternative for those who are tired of the regular tomato pizza sauce.

It introduces a new flavor palette, and when paired with chicken or vegetable toppings, it lends an irresistible creaminess to every bite.

If you’ve ever had a white sauce pizza before, you would understand what I’m talking about.

It’s simply a different experience, and when combined with the cheesy, creamy pizza sauce, the toppings elevate the experience to a whole new level.

White pizza sauce is typically used to make white pizza.

Just to clarify, white pizza or Pizza Bianca technically includes ingredients like Ricotta cheese, mozzarella, parmesan cheese, and garlic powder/ground garlic.

White pizza or Pizza Bianca doesn’t primarily utilize this white sauce recipe. This white sauce is used in some pizzerias and is possibly an internet recipe and I absolutely adore it on pizzas with veggies.

This white pizza sauce recipe offers an alternative way to enjoy pizza.

What is white pizza sauce made of?

White pizza sauce has butter, flour, garlic, milk, parmesan, and cream cheese. You can skip cream cheese if you like, but the other ingredients are necessary.

The remaining ingredients are seasonings: salt, pepper, and oregano.

This white sauce recipe is thick because of the butter and flour mixture you make at the beginning, which eventually thickens the sauce, making it creamy, thick, and luscious.

Ingredients and Substitutions

Butter- If you want this recipe to be vegan, you can use vegan butter. I have used regular butter. Do not use anything else but butter to make the roux.

All Purpose Flour- This is another ingredient I would never consider replacing. But if you want to make it gluten-free, you can use finely milled rice flour.

Freshly ground garlic- You can use garlic powder instead; double the amount. So, if you use half tbsp of fresh ground garlic(garlic paste), you should use one tbsp of garlic powder.

Milk- You can use any milk here, which would work great. If you want to make this recipe vegan, go with Almond milk or Oat milk, and you will not be disappointed with the results.

White Pizza Toppings Ideas

Some of my favorite white pizza topping ideas have to be

1. Diced Chicken(pre-cooked) and Onion

2. Shredded chicken+ bell Peppers+ Olive+ Corn

3. Shredded Chicken+ salami

4. Classic Pepperoni

5. Onion+ Bell Peppers+ Olives+ corn+ Mushrooms

6. Mushroom+ Tomatoes+ Olives

How do you store this White garlic pizza sauce?

Canning this white pizza sauce is easy.

This pizza sauce is versatile; I often use it with pasta and sometimes as a dip with grilled vegetables.

This versatility can lead to the sauce disappearing faster than one might expect. So, consider making this sauce in large batches and canning it for future use.

It can be a great time-saver, allowing you to prepare a pasta dish in just 15 minutes. All you need to do is mix this sauce with some al dente pasta, incorporate some pasta water, and perhaps add some leftover grilled vegetables or rotisserie chicken.

Believe me, this sauce can be a lifesaver for preparing quick and easy dinners.

How long does it last in the refrigerator?

If stored properly, this sauce can last for about a week and 5 days or even longer, depending on your storage method.

Ensure you use a clean spoon when removing the sauce from the can, as any cross-contamination could potentially spoil the sauce, even when stored in the refrigerator.

With proper storage, it can last for a full seven days or even more.

If you’ve kept it in the refrigerator for an extended period, check for signs of mold. If you wish to store it for longer than seven days, consider freezing the sauce.

Can you freeze this white pizza sauce?

Yes, you can freeze this white pizza sauce to make it last longer. I enjoy making it in bulk and then freezing the pizza sauce for later use.

When stored in the freezer, this pizza sauce will remain good for up to 3 months. It may last longer, but the taste may deteriorate if you freeze it beyond three months.

What else can you use this pizza sauce for?

This sauce is versatile and goes well with many other recipes. You can use this sauce on burgers, pizzas, roasted veggies, pasta, and seafood.

This sauce is a hit at my home, and my family also enjoys dipping their garlic bread sticks in this mix. If you have never tried this recipe, you must be convinced to make this white sauce now.

I recently dipped pizza bombs in this, and it was so delicious. Try making this with the pizza bombs, and you will not be disappointed.

Not only does it taste good, it goes with anything and everything.

White Pizza Sauce vs. Alfredo

Alfredo Sauce is made with butter, heavy cream, and parmesan cheese, and it is paired with pasta.

Alfredo is a pasta sauce made with pasta water, parmesan, and pepper. But the modified American version is the one with heavy cream.

Alfredo Sauce is not as thick as the white pizza sauce because it has no roux, which is used while making white pizza sauce that gives it a thicker consistency.

Alfredo Sauce is going to be thinner, but it tastes delicious. You can put Alfredo Sauce on pizza as a pizza sauce alternative.

I recommend you choose this white sauce pizza recipe over Alfredo as it is thicker.

  • 2 tbsp All Purpose Flour
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 1/2 tbsp Ground Fresh Garlic
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 2 tbsp Parmesan Cheese
  • 2 tbsp Cream Cheese

Instructions

  • Melt the butter in a pan on a low flame and add garlic and then all purpose flour, mix them well and cook on low heat till it turns slightly golden.
  • Add little milk to this mixture not the entire cup at once. Add a little first and mix it well with the roux so it doesn't form any lumps. Once you get a smooth mixture with the milk, you can add the rest of the milk and mix.
  • Add all the seasonings that is- salt, pepper and oregano.
  • Add some grated parmesan cheese and if you want to make it more creamy, add some cream cheese(I have skipped it, but I usually use it).
  • Cook it until it thickens and all the cheese has melted with constant stirring, and then turn off the heat.

Notes

1. You can use any milk you like, it doesn’t have to be full-fat. Skimmed milk would do as well.
2. If you are vegan, you can replace this recipe with vegan milk, cheese, and butter to get a vegan version that tastes just as good.
3. It is fine if you do not have cream cheese; just parmesan will do. However, you have to add one cheese to flavor the sauce, and you can replace it with any other cheese that you like.
4. You can use garlic powder instead of freshly crushed garlic; make sure you use double the amount of garlic powder compared to how much freshly crushed garlic you use.
