If you

There are a lot of varieties when it comes to pizza. There are also many cooking appliances where you can cook the pizza in and still make it as great as what you are used to.

Cooking in the comfort of your home is an ideal way to eat your favorite food, especially during this time where we are all stuck in our houses because of the pandemic.

Having a pizza as a meal and cooking it at the house will give a different meaning to unhealthy food. It gives you more than just the fats and carbs found on a pizza.

Electric smokers are one of the many versatile cooking appliances. It allows you to create the best foods usually cooked in other cooking appliances so take advantage of it.

It will also save you a lot of money from investing in other cooking equipment when you can cook the recipe you want with a single electric smoker.

Smoked pizza is another variety of pizza that is truly amazing. When you think you are stuck with the regular pizza flavors, a smoker adds more to the pizza you love.

This recipe is also very easy to do. You can prepare the pizza just like how you prepare a regular pizza; the only difference here is that you are making it in unusual cookware.

While that may seem a bit scary, this recipe hits the right spot. Once you cook pizza in an electric smoker, you will have a hard time going back to the regular pizza you are used to.

How Does An Electric Smoker Work?

An electric smoker consists of the cooking chamber, water pan, electric heater, grill racks, and the chip tray to put the wood or pellets that will produce the smoke.

The electric heating element heats the cooking chamber, and the interior distributes the heat through convection. The wood then burns to produce the smoke that you desire.

This means the food cooks by the heat that comes from all angles of the cooking chamber. The wood sits right beside the electric heaters to burn quickly.

It is very easy to use, but you should keep in mind to select the type of wood or pellets that you want to use. This is the tricky part since it should combine with the food.

At first, you can put any type of wood on the tray, but as you progress, you will know what type of wood comes along best with the pizza flavors that you are cooking.

There is no secret here aside from continuing to cook. The more you cook, the more you will know what you love and the more you will see which type of wood fits with it well.

Cooking Pizza In An Electric Smoker

As we have said, you should continue cooking to know your preference. But for now, you can follow these instructions about the basics of cooking pizza in an electric smoker.

Prepare the Pizza

The best way to make pizza is to use fresh ingredients. So go to the store and then buy all the ingredients you want to put on your pizza.

If you have limited time, you can buy ready-made doughs, but it is always best to make your own to know the consistency of the dough you want.

Slice the vegetables and toppings thinly. Cutting the toppings thin so will help even out the cooking time for the dough and the cheese, along with the toppings themselves.

Meat needs to be pre-cooked before putting them on the pizza. So slice the meat toppings thinly and then cook them halfway through on a pan and then drain the oil from the meat.

Get The Electric Smoker Ready

While it is pretty easy to use an electric smoker, there are a few tricks that you can use to make the electric smoker better, and the smoke builds up faster.

First, put a cup of wood chips on the tray and then plug the electric smoker in. Turn the dial to preheat mode and wait for the smoker to create the smoke that you need.

Letting the wood tray fill halfway or putting only a few wood chips will allow the smoker to light up faster instead of filling it up, making the wood chips suffocate.

This will take a bit of time, so you need to be patient. Put the temperature dial at 250 degrees Fahrenheit which will take around 30 minutes for the electric smoker to reach.

Cook The Pizza

Once the electric smoker reaches the desired temperature, and the pizza is ready, slide it in the electric smoker and let the crust cook first by putting the pizza on the lowest rack.

This can leave the toppings a little undercooked but do not worry about that yet. Cover the electric smoker and then let the pizza smoke for more or less an hour.

This can take longer or shorter depending on how thick the pizza crust is. So if you are not certain about the time, you can check if the pizza crust has reached the desired crispiness.

After the crust has become crispy, move the pizza from the bottom rack to the topmost rack to finish the toppings. This takes around 30 minutes so just wait for a bit.

Close the electric smoker and then observe if the toppings are cooked already or if the cheese has melted. If so, then remove the pizza from the electric smoker.

Check out the recipes below that you can make with your electric smoker; the Vegan Veggie Pizza is my favorite as it is super light and melts in the mouth.

Leave the pizza on a serving dish and then rest for a few minutes for the cheese and toppings to cool down. Cut the pizza and then serve!

Tips

Here are some tips to enhance the performance of your electric smoker so you can make better and better pizzas every time you make one.

Change The Tray

When you initially purchase an electric smoker, the wood chip tray included in the product is usually smaller, which means that it will not produce as much smoke as you want.

Wood chip trays are inexpensive, so we suggest that you buy one with a larger capacity. There are many to choose from that will last for more than 10 hours so you can buy that.

The less frequent you open the electric smoker, the more enhanced the smoke it produces will be. So make sure to fill up the chip tray, so you do not have to refuel now and then.

Do Not Oversmoke

Smoking is great for adding just the right amount of flavor to your food. Over smoking will bring unnecessary flavors to your food, like bitterness from the smoke.

Make sure to time your recipe and remove it from the smoker when it is done. This is important, especially with pizzas, as it can ruin the crust and the cheese on it.

Use Foil

Using foil will not necessarily improve the flavors of the food, especially when it blocks the smoke. However, it is good to use foil on the racks to eliminate the food mess.

This is helpful, so you no longer need to scrub away the food residuals on the grates with a tight space. Anyway, it is a personal preference, so it is up to you if you want that or not.

Conclusion

Pizza is a great food for you and your family to bond on. It brings many flavors, and it can also be healthy, especially when you select the right and freshest ingredients.

Electric smokers are perfect for smoking meat for meals of the family. But it is also great for smoking pizzas to add more flavors to the toppings that you have.

This is a unique combination, but it does so well. When you cook pizza in an electric smoker, you get to control the temperature easily, so you will not burn the pizza.

So take advantage of the extra time you have while staying at home and cooking the best pizzas on your electric smoker. Choose all the yummy ingredients that you want!.
