If you are running late or if you are really busy and want to make something quick at home then heating up a frozen pizza might be your thing.
But, there are ways in which this can go wrong. If not done right, you might end up with a soggy base and a not so great to taste pizza.
There are few ways in which you can cook a frozen pizza in the right way and using a pizza stone is going to get you there.
If you have been looking for the perfect pizza stone then do check out our #1 Recommendation which is the Emile Henry Pizza Stone.
Now, moving on to how you can get a nicely cooked pizza from a store-bought pizza, follow the following tips and you would be good to go.
1. Use a Pizza Stone
The Pizza Stone is known for helping you get a nice crispy crust while you cook your frozen pizza inside the oven.
The Pizza Stone usually captures heat and makes the cooking temperature of the base of the crust higher than the oven temperature.
This helps your pizza get that crispy base and the toppings and the cheese are perfected cooked and melted respectively.
Adding a pizza stone in the cooking mix can really help you get there with the results.
So, make sure that you insert your pizza stone while you preheat the pizza. Also, make sure that you bring the frozen pizza to room temperature before placing it on top of the pizza stone.
Thawing the pizza can make a lot of difference in the way the pizza gets cooked. So make sure you do that if you want your frozen pizza to be perfectly cooked.
2. Brushing the pizza with some Olive Oil
Since you have been freezing the pizza, it can do with some oil that would help the pizza get a little crispier while you cook it inside the oven.
You do not need a lot of olive oil but a little goes a long way in this case. So, try brushing a tiny amount of olive oil on the pizza and you would see some huge differences.
You can really cook some amazing pizzas with this method and you are going to get a crispy crust with it.
Just make sure you do not overdo it as that will just make the pizza oil and high in calories
3. Placing the Pizza On the Pizza Stone
Since you are cooking a frozen pizza, it is important to understand that you cannot directly place the frozen pizza on a pizza stone.
This would cause a huge temperature difference that can affect the pizza stone and if you are not using a great quality pizza stone then it could even crack.
Moreover cooking the pizza is not going to be easy because of the huge temperature difference.
Make sure that you have thawed the pizza first before you get started with cooking it on a pizza stone.
Make sure that once the pizza is done you never cut the pizza on the pizza stone. This might create marks on the stone that can affect its quality in the long run.
Also, when you need to clean teh pizza stone just clean with a brush first and them with water.
Not all pizza stones are dishwasher friendly you might want to check that before cleaning it with soap water.
Although, what I would personally do is clean it after every use with just water and maybe use the dishwashing soap once in a few months.
I recommend the Emile Henry Pizza Stone as it is dishwasher safe and easy to use. Also, the pizza stone is durable so it can last you a really long time!
3. Preheating the Oven
Preheating the oven would take about 5-10 minutes and make sure that you have inserted your pizza stone before you started preheating the oven.
This way the pizza stone is going to get hot which would help cook the base evenly.
Then once you place the pizza on the pizza stone, all you need to do is cook for another few minutes and your pizza would be ready to serve.
This might take some trial and error method as you need to cook the pizza for some exact amount of time.
If you cook a pizza for any time longer then you might end up with a lot chewier crust than desired.
So make sure that you keep an eye on your pizza inside the oven especially 5 minutes after cooking inside the oven.
4. Sprinkle some water drops on the side of the pizza
There are many people who keep a small jar of water inside the oven while the pizza is being cooked and this is done so that the toppings and cheese retain all the moisture that is needed.
Since most of the frozen pizza might have some moisture after being thawed but in case you feel your pizza is dry you can sprinkle some water drops in the oven.
You could pour a little quantity of the water in a glass and keep it inside the oven while the pizza is being cooked.
Remember you need very little moisture so it is important that you do not overdo it.
Here is a video that can help you understand how it is done.
5. Add more toppings
Now, this is optional but if you want, you can add more toppings on the pizza to make it even more delicious.
I usually recommend adding meat and healthy veggies on your pizza so that you would feel fuller once you are done eating it.
There are never too many toppings on a pizza but make sure you do not overload the pizza with heavy toppings.
This would just make cooking difficult and the crust soggy.
Toppings are good but there is a limit to them because if you go rouge then they would affect the pizza and its making.
These tips should definitely help you cook the perfect pizza.
