Ooni Koda and Roccbox Pizza Ovens, well, this post will be interesting as Roccbox has been one of the best pizza ovens out there, and Ooni pizza ovens are pretty much perfect in every way. So which pizza oven is better?
The Ooni Koda is a gas-fueled pizza oven, while the Roccbox is a multi-fueled pizza oven. Both of them have very similar features and if you are wondering which one is a better purchase, keep reading this post.

Design and Build Quality
The design of the Roccbox Pizza Oven is classy, and it is a multi-fueled pizza oven. It has the feature of using both gas and wood as a source of fuel.
The Roccbox pizza oven is larger and has better built. The Ooni Koda is no less and comes with its own set of advantages, which we would go through in a while.
The Roccbox comes in green and silver in color, which looks amazing. One of the few pizza ovens with any color on the exterior makes Roccbox look cool and classy on your countertop.
The Oven is well built such that it retains heat to maintain a high temperature to cook pizzas. Now moving on to the Ooni Koda, this pizza oven is smaller and only gas-fueled.
Yes, you cannot use the Ooni Koda as a wood-fired pizza oven, and if you are wondering, does that make a difference?
In all honesty, the gas-fueled pizzas cooked inside Ooni or the Roccbox are as good as the ones cooked using wood. You get almost the same results, and there are very fine differences.
The Ooni Koda is lightweight and relatively easy to carry around in comparison to the Roccbox. The Ooni Koda needs no assemble as all you need to do pull out the pizza oven from the box and unfold its legs.
Overall, the Ooni Koda design is more suited for people who want to use the Oven for personal use at home. The Roccbox is for someone who wants to use the pizza oven for commercial purposes.
The Roccbox pizza oven is multi-fueled as you can use wood or gas to fuel the pizza oven. You just need to attach a propane gas tank to the pizza oven and start cooking with the gas burner.
The Ooni Koda, on the other hand, is only a gas-fueled pizza oven, and you do not have the option of using it as a wood-fired oven.
If you are looking for a pizza oven that can work as both a wood-fired pizza oven and a gas-fueled pizza oven, you would like the Roccbox.
But if you are not that into wood-fired pizza ovens and probably would not mind having a multi-fueled pizza oven, then Ooni Koda would be your perfect fit.
Now, the real question is, the Roccbox is almost $200 more expensive than the Ooni Koda, so is it worth it?
If you want to invest in something as huge as Roccbox, then it is better to go for the Ooni Pro instead. The Ooni Pro is very similar to Roccbox in most of the features. It is way better.
I feel the Ooni Koda gas burner made things so easier to cook inside the Ooni Pizza Oven. It gets hot fast, no need to constantly feed the wood pellets, and the pizza tasted pretty much.
So, in all honesty, I’m all for the gas burner or the gas-fueled Oven, but if you want to have an option of using wood as a fuel as well sometimes, you should check out the Roccbox.
Another important point that you should consider is that heating up the Roccbox Oven does take some time. This feature about Roccbox annoyed me; the Ooni Koda, on the other hand, heats up faster(this is the case with every Ooni Oven).
Cooking inside the pizza Ovens
Cooking Pizzas inside both the ovens was a pretty easy process, although I must add when the ovens are gas-fueled, it is much easier to manage as all you need to do is adjust the knob to manage the flame of the pizza oven.
The Ooni Koda oven would take about 15-20 minutes to reach the temperature desired. Once you have checked the temperature using the IF thermometer making sure it is above 400-degree Celsius, you can pop the pizza inside the Oven.
Cooking a pizza inside the Oven is easy as well since you just need to wait for 2 minutes or sometimes even less at higher temperatures and keep turning the pizza using a pizza peel so that you have a pizza cooked to perfection.
One of the downsides of the Oven is that the pizza peel comes with the Koda because they do not have a handle; I usually prefer the handle as it makes rotating the pizza a lot easier, and I do not need to be close to the Oven while doing it.

The Roccbox, on the other hand, has an inbuilt temperature monitor, and you even have a better peel to turn the pizzas around inside the Oven.
Once the pizza has some leopard spots, and there is that perfect cheese melt, your pizza is ready.
The taste of the pizzas cooked inside both the ovens is amazing, and once you eat them, you are never going to want to eat outside. Overall, cooking is pretty much the same with both the ovens.
Both the pizza ovens are pretty good; the Ooni Koda is pretty amazing if you are looking for a pizza oven that would help you make pizzas at home and if you are not particular about having the Roccbox.
If you want a pizza oven for commercial use, you can think about Roccbox, but even then, I would suggest you invest your money in the Ooni Pro as they cost around the same, but Ooni Pro is WAY better than the Roccbox Pizza oven.
I loved the Ooni Koda Pizza oven for the price, and among the two, this Oven was my pick. But if you want a pizza oven that would be multi-fueled and have more features, check out the Ooni Pro(Better than Roccbox).
