What Comes Out Of The Box?

The Ooni Fyra consists of the oven itself, a chimney, and a pellet hopper, detachable.
A 13.7-inch wide baking stone made out of cordierite. You can easily make a 12 inch pizza and you will have no problems making casseroles and other recipes with this pizza oven.

As I have mentioned above, the design of the Ooni Fyra is not far from the design of its predecessors. It has maintained the shape of the classic Ooni pizza oven.
What may be different when you compare it to the series’s first three installments is that it has a chimney-like Ooni Karu, not in the series.
It boasts over a detachable chimney foot, which helps circulate the air inside the oven. It also has a second chimney at its back, which is the pellet hopper.
The vent on the back sucks the air inside the oven. Since the pellet hopper is always covered, it cannot gather enough air, so it is only right that the vent is on the back.
The Ooni Fyra has also kept the trademark foldable legs of Ooni ovens. However, it is longer to create more air circulation between the Ooni Fyra and the tabletop.

It has a door that helps in retaining heat inside the oven. The handle is glass-reinforced, so even if the door is in contact with the heat inside the oven, you can still hold the cool-to-touch handle.
The door is also accommodating, and it does not get in the way. Ooni has designed the hook on the door to have maximum use and minimum distraction.
The door is good for certain climates where heat retention can be a problem for the oven.
When you open the oven door, you can hang it at the bottom of the oven’s opening, and it makes way for you to put the pizza inside.
The door also has about an inch of opening just beside the handle. It functions as a peephole, so you can see if the flames inside are going without even opening the door.
The flames out back are going to cook pizzas evenly.
The Ooni Fyra is a relatively small pizza oven and is very lightweight. The whole pizza oven only weighs ten kilograms or around 22 pounds.
The Ooni Fyra is perfect for traveling since it is lightweight and portable. Especially if you have a car, what is just another ten kilos of baggage in exchange for an amazing pizza while enjoying a sunset.
The pizza oven’s overall body has 430-grade stainless steel, which means that it has no nickel and is fit for long periods outdoors.
The high-grade steel used for the Ooni Fyra is very great in weather resistance. It can stand rain and sunshine, so it comes in handy when you want to cook outside your house.

Baking Stone inside the Ooni Fyra 12
It has a 0.4-thick cordierite baking stone, which heats up pretty fast and retains the heat for a long time. It perfectly cooks the crust with an evenly heated surface.
The dimensions of the cordierite stone measures 13.7 inches wide, so you can easily fit a 12-inch pizza in it. Ooni suggests measuring a pizza, although you can still cook an even larger 13-inch pizza in the Ooni Fyra.
The largest pizza dimensions that you can cook are 12 inches in the oven. If you want to cook pizzas of larger dimensions then you can go for the Ooni Karu 16, Ooni pro 16, or Ooni Koda 16.
These pizza ovens I recommended above can cook larger pizza dimensions up to 16 inches.
You can easily find the Ooni bottom replacement stone in case you have cracked the stone or just used it too much and want a replacement stone to fix the issue.
Having the option of replacement stone just shows that Ooni is here to stay and is not going anywhere.
Chimney in the Ooni Fyra 12
The chimney of the Ooni Fyra can be adjusted, which means that the airflow is controllable, and so you can limit or increase the air circulation inside the oven.
It is also effortless to detach with just a simple twist and pull action. The chimney is composed of two parts which you can separate and fit inside the oven.
The pellet hopper is also detachable and can also fit inside the oven plus the foldable legs. So now, you can maybe imagine how small the Ooni Fyra can get.
It is the oven itself alone when it is in its simplest form, and if you thought that that was it, then you are wrong.
You will be amazed that you can even reverse the door so the handle goes inside the oven and will not get in the way when storing it.
The Ooni Fyra is very portable. You can store it inside a small cabinet, and you would not have any problem with it not fitting in.
How does the Ooni Fyra 12 work?
The Ooni Fyra is incredible, to put it shortly. It can cook amazing Neapolitan Pizzas in less than a minute, and they always come out great.
This oven can go up to 932 degrees Fahrenheit or 500 degrees Celsius in less than 15 minutes with only wood pellets as fuel.
The circulation of air inside the oven is very great, which helps in heating the interior. The oven’s small interior has improved insulation, which makes it great at retaining heat.
The air from the back of the oven gets sucked in while the chimney allows the heat to go directly upwards, meaning that the oven’s heating capability is not from direct heat.
The fire from the wood pellets goes right up the chimney and uses the insulation to radiate the heat all over the oven’s interior.
Tiny, yet mighty…
The cordierite baking stone is amazing, and it also heats up pretty quickly along with the oven.
It measures over 13 inches, which means that you can cook up to 12-inches pizza without any problems.
The Ooni Fyra is a very small oven, yet powerful beyond its size. The wood pellets that you use as fuel contribute to the optimal heat retention of the oven.
Compared to most portable pizza ovens in the market, the Ooni Fyra is extremely efficient.
Ooni carefully sources their very own wood pellets, which they recommend using with any of their wood-fired ovens.
However, they agree that you can use other wood pellets as long as they are hardwood pellets.
You might also want to see the food-grade pellets, so you do not get other toxic flavors thrown into your food and cook in your Fyra without any problems.
Cooking with the Ooni Fyra 12
At first, the preheating might take a long, but really, 15 minutes is not that hard to wait for. You can prepare at least two pizzas before the oven heats up.
But once the Ooni Fyra does heat up, you better get moving and stay alert. The power that it produces is great to cook a pizza in just 45 seconds or even less.
Once the oven heats up, you can experience the ease of use right away; the door you can hang at the bottom front of the oven is really handy.
You would not need to place it on the table or in other places that you might forget once in a while. All you need is to open the oven, hook the door, and place your pizza in the oven.
The peephole is also helpful to see whether you need to add more pellets or not without opening the oven’s doors.
Once you put your pizza in, you can close the door for maximum heat retention. Take note that you need to move your pizza around every 5-10 seconds.
Refueling the Ooni Fyra 12 is not that hard. An extra pellet hopper cop comes with the product, and it also serves as a pellet scoop.
You can get the wood pellets using the cap and simply drop them on the pellet hopper. One full load of the pellet hopper can last for up to 20 minutes and keeps the oven burning.
The cordierite baking stone does its job and cooks the pizza’s bottom at an even rate. It also heats up very fast and retains the heat for a long time.
Cooking Tips with Ooni Fyra 12
The Ooni Fyra 12 is so powerful; that it can burn your pizza if you leave it unattended for just a few seconds. So it is still up to the user to get that evenly cooked side of the pizza.
The Ooni Fyra gets really HOT so, you have to turn around the pizza halfway through the cooking time.
If you do not keep an eye on the pizza, you can easily burn it inside this oven.
I recommend using an IR thermometer in order to measure the temperature of the pizza stone in the oven.This helps you understand when you should insert your pizza inside the oven.
As for the crust, the oven’s fast-cooking capability makes it crispy on the outside with a chewy inside crust.
Maximum temperature of the Ooni Fyra 12 Pizza Oven
The maximum temperature that the Ooni Fyra 12 can reach is about 400-450 degrees celsius, which is pretty great for cooking pizzas.It is best to have pizza peels to turn around the pizza inside the oven. Ooni Fyra 12 Pizza Oven Accessories that I highly recommend
If you want to get some Ooni Fyra 12 Accessories, then you should get the carry cover as it not only helps you store the pizza oven but also makes it easy to carry the pizza oven around.
Another one would be the pizza peel, as that helps you insert the pizza inside the pizza oven. Rotating pizza peel or a perforated pizza peel works great with this or any other wood-fired pizza oven.
I also highly recommend getting an infrared thermometer from Amazon to measure the temperature of the cooking surfaces.
This way you would know when exactly you need to insert the pizza inside the oven for it to cook in under 60 seconds.
Cleaning the Ooni Fyra 12
Cleaning of the Ooni Fyra is not that big of trouble as well; the cordierite baking stone can be flipped over and used on the other side.
While one side is cooking the pizza, the other is heated up to pyrolyze the food bits left on it. So what the Ooni Fyra does is cleans itself using the powerful heat it contains.
You can easily remove ashes from the wood pellets through the vent. You can get them off entirely with just a few brush-offs.
As for the heat it produces, the Ooni Fyra can only go down to 750 degrees Fahrenheit for the oven to retain the heat, so you are limited to recipes that require that amount of heat.
Recipes that require lower heat might get burned in the Ooni Fyra so take note of that and only put recipes that need that much power when cooked.
If you use a carry cover or just use a cover on the oven then you will have to clean less.

Before this whole lockdown and we had to sit out selves at home because of the pandemic, o was planning a good road trip where I would have stops around with some of my friends. Yes, actually this oven is focused on using wood pellets and that just makes it more efficient. You can cook multiple pizzas inside the oven and you are not going to be disappointed with the results.

Its better than the Ooni 3 for sure but I do not think you have the propane option. You can go for the Ooni Karu if you want both the wood burner and gas burner as an option. The Fyra pizza oven is just a wood pellet pizza oven and the pellet burner design is definitely better than Ooni 3 pizza oven.
In my opinion, the Fyra is so much better than the Ooni 3 but if you want your oven to be multi-fueled then you can look into pizza ovens like the Ooni Karu or the Ooni Pro where you would have the gas burner option.
If you want pizza ovens that are gas-fueled then Ooni Koda and Ooni Koda 16 should be something that you can check out.
If Ooni 3 is still available, you can go with it but do consider that there were some issues with attaching the gas burner on the oven.
