Summary:
Differences between the Roccbox and Ooni Pro 16
1. The design and quality of materials used in the build of the Roccbox Pizza Oven are slightly better than the Ooni Pro.
2. Both the pizza ovens are multi-fueled, but the Roccbox comes with both the burners: the gas-fueled burner and the wood-fired burner.
The Pro comes with a wood-fired burner, and you need to buy the gas-fueled burner separately.
3. The Ooni Pro has a larger cooking space, so if you plan to make 16 inches pizza, you might think about investing in this pizza oven.

6. Ooni Pro comes with a three-year warranty, while the Roccbox comes with a one-year warranty.
My Opinion
I personally love the Ooni Pro Pizza oven because of how fast it cooks pizza and since that was the main deciding factor to me, always choose an oven based on which factor matters to you the most.
==> Get the Best Deal on the Ooni Pro
Design of Ooni Pro 16
Ooni Pro has an excellent metallic design. The pizza oven gets extremely hot and reaches high temperatures, an essential aspect of cooking authentic pizzas.
The pizza oven inside is pretty spacious, which means you can cook some huge pizzas without any issues.
The Ooni Pro has a minimalistic design and gives you an overall metallic feel, making it look stable and durable.
The oven is simple with its design and has a ton of features you would discover as you read along with the review
Design of Roccbox Pizza Oven
The Roccbox, on the other hand, has more color and you can get it in two colors, green and grey.
The outer surface of the pizza oven is green in color, which looks pretty nice. The range has three legs so that it can sit stably on any countertop.
Both are outdoor pizza ovens, so if you plan to get an indoor pizza oven, you should look at some electric pizza ovens that we have reviewed.
Among the Ooni Pro and the Roccbox, the Ooni Pro is more simplistic and comes with a slightly better design than the Roccbox.
The Ooni Pro has a letterbox-style door that lets you easily slide in and slide out of the pizza.
Cooking fuel in Ooni Pro 16 vs Roccbox
The Ooni Pro is a multi-fuel pizza oven, so you can burn charcoal, wood, wood pellets, and gas to get the pizza oven started.
The pizza oven has a charcoal and wood burner by default, and in the case, you plan on using wood pellets, you can get a pellet burner for the oven.
If you want the oven to be gas-fueled, you can get the Ooni Gas Burner attachment separately.
The gas burner attachment will be useful since having the pizza oven gas-fueled is convenient in so many ways.
The heat-up time for the oven when wood and charcoal are the fuel can be around 20-30 minutes, while with the gas burner, you can get the range to the desired temperature within 15-20 minutes.
You can preheat the oven quickly when it is gas-fueled; this means that you can crank up the oven to cook anything like chicken wings or meant without having to wait longer, as in the case of other fuels.
The Roccbox is a wood-fueled and gas-fueled pizza oven.
So, you choose the smoky wood taste in your pizza, or if you want to cook your pizzas at some high temperatures without wasting any time take you usually need to burn the wood.
Both the pizza ovens have more than one fuel option, but if you look at the different choices, then the Ooni Pro comes with more cooking fuel options than the Roccbox.
Size of the Pizzas cooked in Ooni Pro 16 vs Roccbox
Ooni cooks a pizza in less than 60 seconds, and Ooni Pro does pass it. You can quickly cook a pizza in under 60 seconds once the oven has reached around 500-degree Celsius, like the optimal cooking temperature.
The maximum size of pizza that you can cook inside this oven is 16 inches. So, you can quickly cook up a family-sized pizza inside the range.
Ooni Pro can cook other dishes as well, and the list is not just limited to pizzas.
You can roast meat, cook vegetables, and even bake bread with the Ooni Pro. Overall this Pizza oven is fantastic with some speedy cooking times.
You can bake a loaf of sourdough bread or a rib-eye steak inside this oven, basically, anything that you throw into this oven, it cooks it and it makes it delicious.
The Roccbox takes slightly longer, but yes, you can cook pizzas in just 1-2 minutes with this pretty decent pizza oven.
The Roccbox can cook pizzas up to 12 inches, and the cooking space is narrower compared to the Ooni Pro.
Portability of the Outdoor Pizza Ovens
The Ooni Pro oven weighs around 24 kgs, and you can carry it in its bag, but you might want to travel in your car to take it to another place as it is not that easy to walk around with it.
You can transport it quickly, but it may not be convenient to carry it around. There are larger pizza ovens than these, so if you wonder why we call a 24 kg pizza oven portable, well, now you know.
The Roccbox is slightly better that way as it weighs only 20 kgs which is lighter than the Ooni Pro, but even then if you want to take it to your friend’s place, you need to transport it in your car as it is not that easy to carry around like the Ooni 3.
The Pizza ovens are not portable but are transportable, and you can easily take them with you on camping trips or family picnics.
Both the pizza ovens are unique, and you will find that they have an excellent price feature balance.
These are some of the best wood-fired, energy-efficient pizza ovens that would cook you the best Neapolitan-style pizzas.
Cooking Inside Roccbox vs Ooni Pro 16 Pizza Oven
Ooni Pro Oven is pretty large compared to the Ooni Karu, making it a better option for cooking dishes other than just pizzas. You can quickly cook anything in a 12-inch skillet inside the oven.
Both the pizza ovens come with an inbuilt thermometer to monitor the temperature inside the ovens.
The Ooni Pro has a thermometer on the oven’s door, while the Roccbox has a thermometer on the side of the oven.
The Ooni Pro cooks pizzas perfectly, with the bottom being crisp and nicely golden brown to charred.
The toppings come out cooked perfectly with the gooey cheese making it the perfect pizza.
However, the taste might be slightly different if you use a gas burner.
Overall, cooking in this oven is fast because it reaches high temperatures and retains them inside the oven.
Some of the pizza recipes that you can cook inside these pizza ovens are- Spicy Sausage Pizza, Three Cheese Pizza, Vegan Veggie Pizza, Chicken Pesto Pizza.
Final Thoughts- Roccbox vs Ooni Pro 16 Pizza Oven
But overall, the Ooni Pro is pretty good. It would take you around 15-20 minutes for the oven to get HOT, and once done; you can insert the pizza inside the oven.
Some people complain about the pizzas sticking to the pizza stone, but if you use the right turning peel and an IR thermometer to know the surface’s exact temperature, this should be an issue.
You do not necessarily need to preheat the oven for an hour so that the pizzas do not stick to the pizza stone.
Get your dough right and apply some cornmeal at the bottom of the pizza before placing it inside the oven.
Coming to the Roccbox Pizza Oven, the inside cooking space is not as spacious as the Ooni Pro.
The Pizzas cook perfectly, and honestly, they almost were the same.
The Roccbox can cook other dishes since you have enough space for placing an iron skillet. You can roast vegetables or cook meat as you like inside the oven.
Both the ovens can cook various dishes inside them, and all you need to do is be creative with your dishes.
If you like a smoky charred flavor in your food, then getting these ovens will be one of the best investments you will ever make.
The Ooni Pro cooks faster than the Roccbox Oven, and you do have more cooking space, which is something you should consider before you make your buying decision.
Conclusion
So with this small comparison post where we have compared all the basic features of both the pizza ovens, you can see a few more features that the Ooni Pro has to offer compared to the Roccbox.
The Roccbox has one added advantage: it comes with many tools and attachments in the box.
You are not going to find that in the case of Ooni Pro, you get the basic things you need with the Ooni Pro, and the rest might be something you have to get additionally.
You can get the pellet burner and the gas burner if you want to. I would recommend getting the gas burner with the Ooni Pro as it makes cooking with the pizza oven much more convenient.
==> Get the Best Deal on the Ooni Pro 16
However, Ooni Pro has a much larger cooking space and is more versatile in fuel options and even dishes that you can cook inside this pizza oven.
The Roccbox is a pretty good pizza oven, but the price does seem a tad bit more than what it has to offer.
It is pretty similar to the Ooni Pro Pizza Oven in so many ways, yet the Ooni seems like a better option.
So, both the pizza ovens have their pros and cons; choose the oven that best suits your needs.
==> Get the Roccbox Pizza Oven
If you like cooking pizzas and roasting meat for a family, you can go with the Roccbox, but if you want to go all out with the size, then the Ooni Pro is a better investment.
Overall, we loved the Ooni Pro slightly better, but Roccbox has a really good offer price at the moment.
You can check out the Ooni Koda 16 which is my new favorite from the Ooni Pizza Oven. It is a gas-fueled pizza oven but it is easy to use and I totally love the results!

If you have any experience with any of the two pizza ovens that is the Ooni Pro or Roccbox, leave your experiences in the comments below!
Ooni Pro is so much better! My friend had a Roccbox and it struggles to heat up with wood. He has to use very small pieces because the burner is tiny.
I saw a video of the Ooni inventor cooking with real wood in the snow and it heated in 20 minutes. That’s when I bought mine and I have been using it every week ever since.
Hi I would like to thankyou on this informative post about Countertop Pizza Oven. I have been looking at getting a countertop pizza oven for my brother for Christmas. I think the Ooni Pro sounds better for me because of the features and the size. I’m sure my brother will love it and I will get to enjoy some homemade pizza.
Let me know how you liked the pizza oven once you get it!
Thank you so much for your review on both Ooni Pro and Roccbox. I love homemade and freshly made pizza, it is so easy to make and it is healthier for you. I have my mind set on Ooni Pro, want to have some woodfire pizza, it is the best, I love it more than the brickoven one. I personally do not mind spending more time for a good pizza. First, gotta ask my husband first before getting another kitchen tool lol Thanks again!
Yeah, the Ooni Pro Pizza oven is the best and there are so many consumers who are extremely satisfied using this pizza oven.
Hi
I am always in the market for a good outside pizza oven and your comparison between the Ooni and Roccbox was a real eye opener. I really appreciate the different types of fuel that can be used, as we live in environmentally friendly times and we need to use fuels that are locally available. What caught my eye is the speed that it cooks pizza with and that really surprises me, but as long as the pizza is cooked to perfection I do not mind.
One thing that shocked me was that temperature of 500 degrees Celsius, which seems to be a bit high. Will that not cook the pizza outside but not cook the pizza inside. I am basically asking will the pizza be cooked evenly, as a conventional indoor oven goes only to 250 degrees Celsius?
The review is very interesting but I always go for the light option as I am thinking of my back.
Thanks
Antonio
Yes, that is the cooking temperature for pizzas. The hotter the oven, the better you can cook pizzas.
As far as I can tell, Uuni Pro is the better technology. I mean, it’s both bigger and you can cook in it faster. This was a definite selling aspect for me. Other than that, love the aspect of it being capable to cook not only pizzas. Which for me, makes it a great buy.
I will check out that portable version of it as well. We do travel a lot and cooking some pizzas outdoors on our hikes and road trips regularly would be so incredibly awesome. Though I don’t think that generally, 24 kilograms is something that you should go portable for.
Either way, I sincerely appreciate the insights. I was fluctuating between the two.
Cheers, and have a Great One!
Matiss
Yeah, the Ooni Pro definitely has a larger cooking space. I know 24 kgs is not really portable but it is way better than most of the ovens out there.
You can take it around in your car atleast because most of the other outdoor pizza ovens need a truck and some solid help to take them someplace new.
Hey, I just wanted to leave a fast comment with a few kind words.
This was profoundly insightful and truly what I was looking for. Some of the differences I could absolutely get a good sense of just by comparing the promotional materials. However, I do much rather prefer a format like this.
Overall, I truly enjoyed how diverse both of them are. It’s more than useful that the cooking goes far beyond just pizza, as well as I liked the fact that both of them have number means of cooking fuel. One thing I’m personally not so keen on though is the color of the Roccbox. I’m not really a light green type of girl. Others may enjoy it but not me.
Thus, as irrational it is, I would prefer the Ooni every time (it’s also faster, which is nice).
Thank you, and have an Amazing Day,
Rasa
Yeah, I totally understand. Ooni Pro is an amazing pizza oven so you would be happy with your choice.
Hello
I am wondering about the Ooni Koda as I just want a gas oven have you any info I feel the Ooni pro is too heavy to travel around to different locations Thanks for you help Great info I see Rocc box give a 5 year gaurantee and Ooni 3 year one
Yeah, you can go with the Koda then, it is a lighter oven. The only difference between the Koda and the Pro is the cooking space and the fact that you do not get a wood-fired pizza oven.
If you want, you can read our comparison post on both the ovens for more info- Ooni Koda vs Ooni Pro Pizza Ovens.
This is an interesting review as my husband and I did our research for quite a while including at a local dealer that carried both and the salesman there explained it quite differently. Roccbox comes in 2 colors as they have a grey option as well(thats what we bought). You didn’t mention the rubber like shell on the outside which helps you not burn yourself and adds extra insulation. Roccbox also has 1″ of insulation all the way around. The Ooni is not insulated at all! Just a metal box. He showed us that the stone on the Roccbox was twice as thick as any of the Ooni ovens. He cooked us multiple pizzas and the 2nd pizza he cooked on the Ooni was raw and doughy underneath. Also, he showed us how their store unit they do demos on had rust spots all over it. Something about the quality of the metal. The only thing we found that was better on the Ooni Pro was that is was in fact bigger in width but we decided we weren’t making 16″ pizzas and we found the oven quite cumbersome and not easily stored. It wasn’t even a close comparison for us. Roccbox all the way.
Yes, I did discover these features on the Roccbox(after writing this post) and updated most of the posts later on but I missed out on this one. I’ll update this post soon.
Thank you for bringing it to my notice.
Have to agree with Julianne Henderson here as well. The only advantage I can see over the Roccbox is the Ooni Koda 16 if you need to make larger Pizzas. In terms of the build, the Roccbox is commercial grade and is built to last.
