Napoli Pizza Oven vs Uuni 3- The Better Pizza Oven?

Napoli has come up with this new pizza oven that more or less looks similar to the Uuni 3 or the Roccbox Pizza Oven.

The amazing response on Amazon compelled me to write a review and honestly, I was myself interested to see if this pizza oven works as amazingly as it claims.

A pizza Oven that is pretty similar to Napoli Pizza oven is the Uuni 3, they look pretty similar to me but there are a few differences between the two and we would discuss all of that in this comparison post.

 

Design and construction

The Napoli Pizza oven looks pretty sturdy and comes in a nice all black look which to me was pretty smart as once you start cooking the pizzas, you are going to have a black oven.

So, starting with a pizza oven that is black really makes it easier as you are not going to miss the shiny surface of the pizza oven when it was new.

The pizza oven, even though black in color, looks really classy and elegant. The oven is pretty big enough and you can make pizzas along with other dishes in an iron cast skillet.

Overall, the Napoli Pizza Oven has done a pretty decent job when it comes to the design.

You have a chamber at the back in which you can burn wood and overall the entire pizza oven is pretty spacious, giving you the freedom to easily access any part of it while cooking.

The Napoli has a similar design as the Uuni but everything in the Napoli is slightly magnified in comparison to the Uuni 3.

Uuni 3 is a small portable pizza oven and it comes with a shiny stainless steel finish. This is obviously not going to last long as once you start cooking pizzas inside the oven, it is bound to go black.

The oven comes with a wood pellet burner at the back and a small opening where you can only cook pizzas.

In this aspect, I found the Napoli Pizza Oven much better as it has enough space to allow you to cook all the other dishes in an iron skillet.

 

Getting the Pizza Oven started…

Cooking in the Uuni 3 Pizza Oven is pretty easy as all you need to do is put the wood pellets in the burner at the back and once you are done with that you need to wait for about 15-25 minutes for the oven to reach the ideal temperature.

You can use wood, charcoal, instead of wood pellets. However, the burning chamber is quite small and wood pellets seem like a fit for the Uuni 3.

Now, they even have a gas burner for the Uuni 3 pizza oven and that has been a complete game-changer but otherwise, wood pellets are the best way to get the Uuni 3 pizza oven all heated up.

With the Napoli Pizza Oven, you can use wood sticks as well along with pellets giving you more options. Using wood is easier as well and once the oven gets all heated up to the right temperature you can start cooking pizzas.

 

The Napoli Pizza Oven does have an option of the gas burner as well, so you can go for that as well. Comparing both the pizza ovens, the Napoli Pizza Oven is better as you have the option to use wood as a fuel and not just wood pellets.

 

Cooking

Both the pizza ovens are pretty amazing when it comes to cooking a pizza. The Uuni 3 takes around 60 seconds to cook a pizza when the oven has reached the right temperature.

You need to turn around the pizza halfway in order to ensure even cooking of the pizza. Another thing that you might want to look into is maintaining the temperature of the oven, so keep adding wood pellets every 15-20 minutes.

The Napoli Pizza Oven takes the same amount of time to cook pizzas as well, you can easily make a pizza in about 6-90 seconds and yes, you need to turn around the pizza for even cooking.

The only drawback with the Uuni 3 pizza oven is that you cannot cook other dishes with ease as the cooking space is quite small.

On the other hand, you can easily coo other dishes inside the Napoli Pizza Oven using an iron cast skillet. Meat, vegetables, bread, you can throw anything inside this pizza oven and get the desired results that you want to.

 

So, which one is better?

Now, finally comparing both the ovens and looking into their prices, I have to say that Napoli Pizza Oven is relatively better than the Uuni 3.

Now, if I were to compare Uuni Pro and Napoli Pizza Oven, the story would have been a little different because the Uuni Pro is a much larger Pizza Oven with better features.

But the Uuni 3 being pricier than the Napoli, I have to say that the Napoli Pizza Oven seems like a better investment. However, you might want to even consider this fact that the Napoli is a newer brand in comparison to Uuni.

If you are okay with that, then definitely the Napoli Pizza Oven is better than the Uuni 3. I think the Napoli is really spacious and it can help you explore wood-fired oven cooking.

There are a lot of fuel options for both the ovens but Napoli is much better when it comes to maintaining and regulating the temperature inside the pizza oven.

Uuni 3 Gas Burner Review

Uuni(Ooni) 3 is a wood-fired pizza oven and you are going to use wood pellets to fuel this oven. Although there were some other fuel options like charcoal and wood, Uuni did promise it to be gas fueled.

In this post, we would discuss if getting a gas burner for your Uuni Pizza oven is worth the money or not!

The gas burner just adds another way of fueling the pizza oven and for someone who is not interested in investing in the wood pellets, might find it easier to use the gas burner.

The pizzas in the Uuni cook really fast so it was interesting to see if there was any delay with the gas burner or you could get the same results.

The Ooni 3 pizza oven was fueled by wood pellets but the team did say that you could expect a gas burner in future that would make the pizza oven gas fueled.

So, now we have the gas burner attachment for the pizza oven and things just got better. With the wood pellets, you had to keep feeding the pizza oven in order to maintain a particular temperature.

 

However, with Uuni 3 gas burner attachment things get easier. Now, coming to the installing part, having the burner installed is not that easy and you might want to take your own time with removing the pellet burner.

Trust me, this process does take some time and you do need to figure it out before you can go ahead and attach the gas burner then you would realize how amazing it works.

Honestly, once you are done with the installation you would realize there are a lot of things that just get better with this new burner.

 

A few advantages of the new Uuni 3 Gas Burner…

The one thing that really is impressive about the burner is there is more temperature control as compared to using the wood pellet burner.

You can easily regulate and control teh temperature. If you want to cook your pizza at 650 degrees Fahrenheit then that is just way easier now with the Uuni 3 pizza oven.

 

All you need to do is take the thermometer and measure the temperature of the pizza stone. Once you are sure about the temperature you can regulate the gas accordingly to maintain the temperature inside the Uuni pizza oven.

You can even increase the temperature higher but that might just burn the pizza so we would suggest that you keep the temperature around 550-650 degree Fahrenheit to get the perfectly cooked pizza that you are looking for.

 

The taste of the pizza…

Being honest with you, the pizza does come out really well and with the ease of use and taste into consideration, I must say that using the gas burner is impressive.

There is not much of a difference as the pizza is cooked in a pretty similar way. The crust goes slightly charred with the brown dots around it which means that the pizza is done.

The taste was pretty could and one can hardly tell that you did not cook it using the wood pellet burner. There was not much of a difference.

 

Is the Wood pellet burner better?

There are a few things in which the wood pellet burner can be better than the gas fueled burner and one of the things is getting the temperature of the pizza stone as high as you possibly can.

Yes, you have to keep adding pellets for that to happen but the base comes out better when the fuel of the pizza oven is wood pellets.

The gas Pizza Oven does get the base high but whilst you get that the toppings start to char off a bit so it might feel like the toppings are getting burned.

Now, not everyone has a problem with that but if you are someone who wants their toppings to be cooked perfectly without any charring then you might want to consider this.

Overall, with some time you start understanding the gas burner and the cooking pie gets easier with it. Honestly, it is much more easy to use and you do not need to meddle a lot like you need to do with the palette burner.

 

Do we recommend?

Definitely, yes! We liked the gas burner and if you own a Uuni 3 oven then this is a really small investment in order to make your cooking experience even better.

There is a lot of experimentation ahead with this burner and once you try it, you would get to know how easy it is to cook some really amazing and delicious pizzas that taste better than the store bought ones.

The Roccbox and Uuni 3 are one of the best pizza ovens and if you are making a choice as which one is better between the two then you have to read this comparison post.

Comparing the two pizza ovens is pretty interesting and both the ovens have their own pros and cons, however, it is going to get really interesting when we have to pick one and decide which one is better.

The Roccbox Pizza Oven is gorgeous and it has a really sturdy built. It is a countertop pizza oven so you can easily place it on a countertop and it takes really less space in comparison to any other wood-fired pizza ovens.

The oven has a burner unit at the back where you can burn wood or coal according to your wish to fuel the pizza oven. The unit can also be replaced with a gas burner, making the pizza oven fueled by a propane tank within no time.

The best part about the pizza oven is that you can use multiple sources to fuel the pizza oven. The size of the pizza oven is larger than the Uuni making it more suitable to cook steaks and other dishes inside the oven.

The cooking area in the Roccbox oven is large enough to cook a pizza of about 12 inches. So, you cannot cook a really large 16-inch pizza but you can definitely cook multiple pizzas one after the other as it barely takes 70 seconds to cook one.

The Uuni 3, on the other hand, has a nice silver metallic finish and is really light in weight and portable. It is way lighter than the roccbox and you can easily out it in its dedicated bag and carry it around with you to trips.

The Uuni 3 is fueled with wood pellets which are cheap to buy and efficient in raising the temperature inside the oven really quickly. The pellets produce a lot less smoke as well making them eco-friendly.

Getting started with the Uuni 3 is going to take some time as you have to assemble all the parts of the pizza oven that comes inside the box.

You do get all the things you need for the assembly in the box itself and it would take around 20 minutes to ensemble the entire pizza oven.

The Roccbox Pizza Oven relatively requires less effort to get started with and honestly if you choose for it to be gas fueled then it would take less than a few minutes to get started.

Both the pizza ovens are fine when it comes to setting them up and getting started with them, however, the Roccbox might be slightly easier than the Uuni 3.

Portability and Performance

Moving on to the main aspects of the two pizza ovens, one among them is the performance. The Uuni 3 cooked the pizza really well and within 60 seconds.

You do need to turn around the pizza while it is cooking in order to get it perfectly cooked from all the sides and avoid any uneven cooking.

The Roccbox pizza oven has a burner unit so it can be fueled with wood and coal easily. You can even replace it with a propane tank and get the entire setup to be gas fueled which is another advantage.

Something that is a little annoying about the wood-fired pizza oven is that you need to always monitor the fire and make sure that is lighted all the time that the pizza is being cooked.

This is the case with Uuni as well since the wood pellets burn out pretty fast and you need to keep an eye on the burning wood so that you do not end up with a pizza that has black soot all over it.

Roccbox is slightly better that way as all you need to do is plug in the propane tank to make it gas fueled and leave the pizza to cook inside without having to keep an eye on the fuel all the time.

The open design of the Roccbox makes it easier to keep an eye on the pizza while the closed setup of the Uuni 3 might make it difficult to know if the light is still lighted in the burner at the back.

Update: Uuni recently released the gas burner so now it comes with a gas burner as well, making it equally good in comparison to the Roccbox Pizza Oven.

Portability

Both the pizza ovens are portable, however, the Uuni 3 undoubtedly aces the portability factor as it is extremely light in weight and you can carry it around with you on trips as well.

The chimney on the Uuni 3 is detachable as well making it even easier to carry it around with you during your camping trips.

The Roccbox might need to be taken to trips in a car as it is relatively larger and even though it is not heavier the size of the pizza oven is way bigger in comparison to the Uuni 3 Pizza Oven.

Uuni 3 wins this as it is probably one of the best portable wood-fired pizza ovens.

Conclusion

If you are a pizza lover, then you would love both the pizza ovens and both of them are really good when it comes to choosing one, it is going to be a tough choice.

Considering the price point and everything we would say that Uuni 3 seems like a better investment. It does have a few downsides but they are quite manageable if you want to save a couple of hundred bucks and still have the best pizza oven for yourself.

The Roccbox would cost you double of what the Uuni 3 is and if you want perfection then you can go for the Uuni Pro rather than investing that money in Roccbox.
