Easy Texas Toast Garlic Bread Pizza Recipe

This easy Texas toast garlic bread pizza recipe is one of the simplest ways to make a snack that gives you the taste of an authentic pizza without actually eating the conventional slices.

It is an even better way to eat one of the best foods that we have ever invented as people. Garlic bread is truly delicious food, and I can name no one who does not like garlic bread.

Texas toast is a bit different from garlic bread in a technical way. Texas toast usually pertains to the bread itself, and the process where you grill it with butter and garlic gives it its name.

Combining pizza and garlic bread is such a great way to make the perfect snack. You get the best type of bread while also having the best type of snack you can get in just minutes.

There are many different ways to make pizzas, but not many are better than using garlic bread. You can also make this at home, which makes it even better so you can adjust the ingredients.

So for this recipe, make sure to follow the guide below and make yours at home. That way, you will be able to make the best snack for your family, so read on and let us get to cooking!

What You Will Need

Again, this recipe is pretty simple compared to other ways to make pizzas, and the ingredients are not that complicated as well. So you just need to get the following ingredients for this recipe.

Get eight slices of frozen Texas Toast garlic bread to serve up to 4 people. If you plan to serve more than four people or a larger group of people, you can get more of the ingredients.

The other ingredients are just like the ones you need when making pizzas. You will need some pizza sauce to go with the bread and make sure that you get the sauce’s right consistency.

I prefer a pizza sauce that has a slightly thicker consistency for this recipe. The reason behind this is because the thicker sauce does not sink easily into the Texas Toast.

Get about 2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese or more, depending on the number of people you serve. As for the toppings, you can get some thin slices of pepperoni.

You are also not limited to meat as you can put vegetable toppings as well. You think the toppings are perfect for the other flavors in the recipe, such as the one from the Texas toast.

You can get any type of pizza toppings that you like. For example, I even incorporated some sausages into the mix one time, and it went well with the other toppings once done.

So select your favorite toppings and then proceed to the cooking process. As long as you do not put too wet ingredients for the bread, the toast will turn out great with any toppings.

Step 1: Preheat The Oven

Do not prepare the oven as if you are making pizza as it will be too hot. The only temperature you need to cook this recipe is 350 degrees Fahrenheit so set it at that temperature.

Preheat the oven while you prepare the other ingredients for this recipe to not waste time waiting for the oven to reach the desired temperature. It will not take too long, so go ahead.

Step 2: Prepare The Bread

Get a large cookie sheet and start preparing the Texas toast by spraying it with non-stick cooking spray. Place the Texas toast garlic bread on the cookie sheet and then start layering.

Next, spread a thin layer of pizza sauce over each slice of bread to cover one side of each slice. Add the thin slices of pepperoni or any of your favorite toppings on 4 out of the eight slices of bread.

Cover the toppings with cheese and then place the other slice on top of it. Repeat until you have layered all of the slices of bread.

Step 3: Cook The Texas Toast Pizzas

Once you have layered all of the Texas Toasts, place them in the oven and let them cook for 5 to 7 minutes. Look for a golden brown finish on the bread and the cheese melting out of it.

The texture should be a crispy outer part and gooey insides with the cheese and pepperoni inside. You can finish off the process by garnishing the bread with some dried oregano.

This recipe goes well with some fresh juice or a pizza dip if you have one. Enjoy while you are watching your favorite game or while you are trying to get some air in your backyard!

Can I Make One With An Air Fryer?

Absolutely! You can easily make this recipe if you have an air fryer. For someone like me who lives in a small studio apartment and does not have space for an oven, air fryers are great!

So do the same process up to the layering part and then preheat your air fryer to a slightly higher 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Prepare the toasts on a clean working surface or the basket.

You can put the toasts directly on the air fryer’s basket and layer them there. Spray some oil or brush a thin layer of butter on the air fryer before you put the toast in to prevent it from sticking.

Slide the basket into the air fryer and then let the toasts cook for 5 minutes. There is no need to flip the toasts over as they will cook from all sides; check for a golden brown color and melted cheese.

Serve while the toasts are still hot with the best side dish you have, or make some dip to go with this delicious pizza while you are chilling with some friends with your favorite game.

Is Texas Toast The Same As Garlic Bread?

Garlic bread is more on the cooking style wherein you can make almost any type of bread as garlic bread. It is a cooking style where you toast your bread with garlic and butter.

The main difference between the two is that the Texas toast is a combination of a specific type of bread and the cooking style used to make garlic bread and not necessarily a recipe.

So the bread used for Texas toast is usually sliced thicker than the regular loaves of bread that we purchase. The loaf is also usually square compared to the usual bread that has a round top.

With the thicker slices of bread, Texas toast gives you softer insides than regular bread. That gives it a slightly doughy texture which somehow recreates the texture of a real pizza crust.

How Many Calories In Texas Toast?

Compared to regular garlic bread, the Texas toast garlic bread also has fewer calories in it. For a single slice, there are only around 50 calories in a Texas Toast, which is great.

It is the perfect type of bread if you want to lose some weight without sacrificing one of the best snacks. Compared to regular garlic bread that has 350 calories for every 100 grams.

Conclusion

If you are looking for a way to eat your favorite pizza without having to worry about your calorie intake, you can make your own Texas toast garlic bread pizza at home.

It has fewer calories, and it is very easy to make. You can finish this recipe in just 5 minutes, and you can feed a lot of people with this when you are having a small gathering in your backyard.

So follow the recipe above and make the best pizzas with Texas toast and enjoy a healthy meal or snack with your favorite pizza flavors!
