For many years, I have tried to recreate recipes from different pizza chains around the country. It is not the easiest task, so I have also wondered, “Can I buy pizza dough from Papa John’s?”
Creating a Papa John’s copycat pizza dough recipe that you love from your pizza chain is not as bad. You can come close to the flavors and textures but there is nothing like the original recipe.
Papa John’s is one of my favorite pizza places. The pizzas have the perfect crust since they are thin, airy, and chewy with every bite you take when you eat any type of pizza.
While I try to cook and recreate such recipes at home whenever I have time, there are just those days when I want to make the pizza at home but I do not have the time to make it from scratch.
Plus, this means that I have to study the recipe once again and try to memorize the flavors and textures just to remake the pizza crust that I am not even sure will match the original.
During these nights, I would prefer to buy pizza dough from Papa John’s if I had the chance to get more time to prepare the other ingredients.
So how do you get your hands on pizza dough from Papa John’s?

Some pizza chains would keep their recipes secret so asking whether or not you can buy the pizza dough used by Papa John’s on its pizza is completely valid.

Papa John’s website is currently down as of the writing of this review, which means that you can only order by phone right now. There are also other ways to order the iconic pizza dough.

Copycat Papa John’s Pizza Dough Recipe
If you cannot buy pizza dough from Papa John’s, you can make this Copycat Papa John’s Pizza Dough Recipe at home.
It can be pretty difficult to order the pizza dough from Papa John’s for some regions, so your best option is to recreate the dough.
This is pretty easy but the only problem is that it will take some time to do. This pizza dough recipe may not have the exact Papa John’s pizza dough ingredients, but I guess we can’t go wrong in a pizza dough recipe.
Ingredients
– 3 cups of all-purpose flour
– 3 cups of warm water (120 degrees Fahrenheit)
-2 tablespoons of olive oil
-2 tablespoons of sugar
-2 and 1/4 teaspoons of fast-rising yeast
-Half a teaspoon of salt
Procedure
Step 1
Get a large bowl and then mix 1 cup of all-purpose flour, fast-rising yeast, salt, and sugar. Use a spatula or a spoon to mix the dry ingredients well before adding the wet ingredients.
Step 2
Gradually add the water and oil into the bowl and then use your stand mixer to mix the ingredients. The mixture should be moistened and is sticky in texture by this time of the process.
Use the remaining flour and add it to the mix while it is being beaten in the stand mixer at low speed and increase the speed to medium until all the remaining flour is uniform forms a dough.
Step 3
Clean your work area and create a floured surface for working the dough on. Once the dough and wet ingredients are incorporated with each other and is starting to pull away from the side of the bowl, it is ready.
Get the dough and place it on the floured surface. Knead the dough by hand until you see a smooth surface on the dough that is still slightly sticky when you pull it with your hands.
Step 4
Once you knead the dough properly, loosely cover it with plastic wrap. Leave it on the countertop at room temperature for 15 minutes to let it double in size.
Since you are using fast-rising yeast, you do not wait for a day or more to proof the pizza dough, your Papa John’s pizza dough will be ready for shaping and cooking after letting it rest.
After you have shaped the pizza dough to the right size, you need to allow it to rest once again for another 15 minutes to further develop the air pockets inside the crust when cooked.
Step 5
Once done, you can get a container and store the remaining dough properly. Ensure that you can seal it so that air and water cannot enter and mess up the proofing process.
This Papa John’s copycat pizza dough recipe may not have the exact Papa John’s pizza dough ingredient portions taste very similar.
