Features
The Broil King Imperial XLS has 6 burners that cook with perfection. It is made of heavy-duty stainless steel.
The stainless steel used for the Imperial XLS is a light metal but because of its size, it comes in at a heavy 310 pounds. This is a heavy grill which can be great for outdoor cooking.
I think it would be perfect for your patio instead of the literal outdoors but it can perform just as well whether you put it inside or outside. This is caused by the heavy-duty stainless steel that protects the grill from rain or sunshine.
You will not have a hard time moving the grill from short distances. The Imperial XLS has 6 stable wheels that make it easy to move from your storage to any place around the house where you want to cook.
It has 6 burners including a side burner and a rear rotisserie tube burner. Both burners are powerful enough to keep your food warm or cook other dishes while waiting for your main course.
The rotisserie burner has 15,000 BTU which can heat up pretty fast and you can use it for any side dish. The side burner has a lower 10,000 BTU but it can perform just as well.

The storage of the Imperial XLS is amazing as well. It provides so much space that you would not think it can handle much more.
The storage spaces are tucked perfectly inside the grill in a way that it provides simplicity. There are two stainless steel shelves, two utility drawers, and an enclosed cabinet.
This provides enough storage for knives, spatula, plates, and other utensils that you can get access from easily.
The grates of the grill are reversible and are heavy-cast stainless steel that can be used on both sides. The heavy-cast is great for retaining heat and can sustain it when cooking for longer amounts of time.
Performance
The Imperial XLS has a total cooking surface of 750 square inches. For a heavy-duty grill, this surface is perfect for cooking almost anything and everything simultaneously.
You can cook steak and roast chicken on the grill. The highlight is the powerful burners that distribute 10,000 BTUs on the four main burners.
It has an electric ignition that you can easily turn to start up the grill. Once the grill is heated up, you can control the temperature with easy-access knobs found at the front of the grill.
The Imperial XLS has 60,000 BTUs spread all over the 6 burners. This is a little lower than the required 100 BTUs per square inch.
Ideally, the Imperial XLS should have at least 75, 000 BTUs in order to distribute the heat well. But the 60, 000 BTUs which are pretty common in grills with the same size, are great for heating up the large grill already.
You might find it slower to cook when the grill is open but it performs perfectly when it is closed.
The Imperial XLS is an amazing grill along with its storage. You can easily get your tools and utensils inside the grill without any hassle of trying to get back in or out of the house to get what you need.
Design
The Imperial XLS weighs over 300 pounds out of its box. You might need some help from a few of your friends to move the grill inside or around the house.
The framework of this grill is an amazing stainless steel silver color with some black colors on the side. It is a modernistic design with less color and more functions.
The Imperial XLS is designed for ease of cleaning and long-term use. It does have style, with the black coating found in the places where productivity is not compromised.
The amazing drawers, shelves, and other storages were fitted perfectly inside the body of the grill. Come to think of it, it is amazing because this grill is deep yet they managed to fit all the storage spaces in the compartment available.
The Flam-R-Wave technology of the grill is found under the grates of the grill. These cover the bottom of the grill and catch all oils and other liquids that drip onto the heat tents.
With the high lid, the grill is perfect for roasting. It provides an ample amount of space and what makes it more amazing for roasting is that the Flam-R-Wave technology catches all liquids that fall under the grates and sizzle them and radiate the heat back to the grill again.
Downsides
As we have talked about all the positive features of the Imperial XLS, it is only right that I mention some of the cons that I found in this amazing grill.
So the first thing is the proportion between the size and the BTU is off – by thousands. See, 600 square inches of cooking surface requires 60, 000 BTUs and the Imperial XLS is a grill with 750 square inches of total cooking surface.
That simply means that it requires 15, 000 more BTUs to disperse the heat evenly and quickly. But it does not mean that the 60, 000 BTUs cannot do the job, it certainly does, but it could have been better.
Another thing is its weight. Because of the 310-pound weight, it is hard to move frequently. You might need more assistance than you think.
The wheels do the job for moving it on a flat surface but when moving it from one part of the house to another and you got a small step ahead, you might find it hard to lift the grill.
What cooking is like inside the Grill
Cooking with the Imperial XLS really gives you the feeling of being a professional chef. You work your way with the big grill but the space that it provides is enough for you to move around.
You do not have to leave the grill every now and then if you forgot something as it has storage that keeps all the needed utensils for you.
Because everything you need is inside the grill itself, you get to keep your eyes on your grill so nothing is left unturned and overcooked.
The heavy-cast grates were perfect for retaining heat and ease of cleaning.
After every use, I find it easy to clean the grill as you just need to wipe the grates and even the outside of the grill.
The propane gas that you connect with the grill does not emit large amounts of smoke.
The food does not stick to the grates and with just a little wipe of a towel, it will look good as new.
You can cook anything in the grill as well. You get to cook with a pan on the side burners and steaks or burgers on the primary burners.
The grill gives you that professional-grade sear marks with its amazing stainless steel grates.
The Imperial XLS even gives you the option to cook in the dark as it has controls that use LED. They light up and you can make adjustments on the temperature of every burner with ease.
The grill also allows you to cook vegetables, sauces, and others and you get to keep an eye on them. So even if they have different timeframes, you get to look after them as you are always close to the grill.
Conclusion
Broil King definitely made the Imperial XLS a stunning piece that can be added into your kitchen or can be used outdoors. It comes in at a fairly high price but once you experience cooking in it, you will see that it is worth every dollar.
Using high-grade materials and stainless steel for its framework is definitely a plus. You do not have to worry about the warranty as the Imperial XLS will go way past that and perform like a new grill at every use.
It lacks a little bit of the BTU but after cooking in it, it did not really matter. It performed just as well as expected and even more.
I was really stoked about the storage. Most grills of this size only have two drawers as storage and you cannot keep as many tools as you can with the Imperial XLS.

I love that it has supporting wheels because I’ve seen a couple that don’t have any, but again that might be because of how heavy the grill may be. Woow! this is really outstanding as the broil king imperial comes with a wheel for easy movement! Our outdoor activities will be much more fun as we can roll the barbecue directly to our guest in our parties. Also good to know its pure stainless steel and completely rust free. I’m not sure if you would want to roll the barbeque to the guests as that would look odd and the barbeque is huge. This BBQ is excellent when it comes to multi-tasking and you are indeed going to fall in love with cooking with this thing.
