Best Pizza Scissors-Use Pizza Scissors to cut Pizza

Once you have your pizza ready, you can just cut it and serve it but there are times that it gets ruined.

Things got better when I started to cut my pizza using pizza scissors for better results.

Pizza scissors might not be the most popular way to cut your pizza but in my opinion, it is one of the best ways.

Using the best pizza scissors can really help you get that perfect clean cut on your pizza that you want.

The scissors help in not messing up with your toppings which is a possibility if you are using a pizza cutter.

That is especially true if you order your pizza from a pizza chain that needs to make a lot of pizzas in a short time.

Using a pizza cutter makes more sense if you are producing a lot of pizzas.

However, if you are cooking at home, I suggest you use pizza scissors to better cut your pizzas.

I use them for Margherita Pizzas because I don’t want the cheese to mess up when I cut the pizza using a knife or pizza cutter.

They are gentle and pizza scissors make sure that the pizza stays intact.

You can also adjust the sizes of each cut in a much more accurate manner to divide the pizza equally to your family.

People’s precision when cutting pizzas with scissors is more accurate and noticeable than other pizza cutters. That is why I have started using pizza scissors instead.

So maybe it is time for you to cut your pizza with pizza scissors as well so you can get the best clean pizza cuts.

Here are all the things you need to know and the best pizza scissors you can get.

What Are Pizza Scissors?

Unlike almost everything involving pizza, pizza scissors did not come from Italy.

It is an invention by Roger Brown, an American inventor that introduced the pizza scissors to many.

While you can use some kitchen scissors to cut your pizza, pizza scissors are designed for cutting pizzas.

They have a different cutting angle which makes it easier to cut the pizza cleanly.

Most of the pizza scissors you will see today are more or less like a regular pair of scissors.

However, they come in many shapes and sizes that give you an advantage when cutting pizzas.

There are pizza scissors that come with a spatula so you can manage the slices easier.

Some pizza scissors have ridges so it cuts easily and feels the crispiness on the crust.

Pizza Scissors Better Than Pizza Cutters?

There are many beneficial factors that you get when using pizza scissors.

I prefer them over pizza wheels or the common pizza cutters because they cut pizzas cleaner.

When you use pizza cutters, there are times when it is too dull and it does not cut through the crust.

There are also tough toppings like pepperoni that do not get sliced all the time.

Pizza scissors prevent this from happening by giving you a clean cut of the toppings, mozarella cheese, and crust.

You can also use pizza scissors to cut the pizza directly on the pizza stone.

You do not have to worry about the pizza scissor as it does not come into contact with the pizza stone so it does not get dull, unlike pizza cutters that you need to use on a cutting board.

Pizza scissors also do not damage the pizza stone or pizza steel by leaving dents and scratches on them.

I also think that pizza scissors are safer and are much easier to use.

How To Maintain Pizza Scissors?

As I have said, pizza scissors hardly get dull even if you use them directly on the pizza stone or pizza steel.

However, there are some things that you need to do to take care of them properly.

Wash By Hand

The best way to clean the pizza scissors is to wash them by hand.

Even if the manufacturers say that their pizza scissors are dishwasher safe, do not put them in the dishwasher.

The dishwasher combines hot water, strong detergent, and careless washing.

That means that the blade can smash with other steel inside the dishwasher and create dents on the sharp blade.

That is why I recommend washing the pizza scissors by hand.

That way, the blade will be safe and stay sharp as long as possible by preventing it from bumping into other hard surfaces.

Use A Whetstone

To keep the pizza scissors sharp, you should regularly sharpen them.

You do not need to sharpen them every day with different stones but you can do it every time before you use it.

Using a whetstone is the best way to sharpen your pizza scissors.

There are different types of whetstones in terms of grit but it does not make a big difference in scissors.

Soak the whetstone in water for at least 15 minutes before using it.

Place it on a flat surface, and then start grinding the scissor’s blade at an angle, remember to do it at one angle only.

If you suddenly switch to another angle, the blade will not be sharpened properly.

You can also do this with sandpaper and work with the angle of the blade but this is a bit inconsistent.

Best Pizza Scissors Out There?

There are many pizza scissors that you can get if you want one.

The market is full of them, but you should know your preference for getting the best scissors that you can.

The Dreamfarm pizza scissors are perhaps the best that you can find. It is a simple scissor that can cut cleanly through the crust of your pizza no matter how thick or how tough the toppings are.

It has a flat base that properly holds the pizza against the blade.

The blade then uses its sharpness and the small space between the base to cleanly cut the pizza through.

It does not come with a spatula, but you can still serve the pizza properly by using the blade and the base like you would with a tong and then serving the pizza.

If you want pizza scissors that also have spatulas, you should read on as we also have a list of the other great options that you can get when you are looking for pizza scissors.

Why Do People Use Scissors To Cut Pizza?

Pizza scissors, first of all, cut pizzas cleaner than pizza wheels or pizza cutters.

People love using them because they do not leave or drag any pizza part with the blades.

If you have used a pizza wheel or pizza cutter, you will see that a sharp and good blade cuts smoothly through the pizza. However, you cannot always confirm that with any pizza cutter.

There are times when the pizza cutter drags the pizza toppings along with it when you cut the pizza.

That is especially true if the pizza cutter is dull and you cut the pizza a little too quickly.

You can use Pizza scissors directly on pizza stones.

The base kind of lifts the pizza off of the pizza stone and the blade then meets the base to cut the pizza cleanly through.

You do not damage the pizza stone nor the pizza scissors.

As the blades cut through the tough toppings, you can ensure that the pizza stays fresh and hot with the pizza stone underneath it.

Do Italians Cut Their Pizza With Scissors?

While it may not seem like it, Italians do cut their pizzas with scissors.

However, they do not use pizza scissors regularly as they have some types of pizzas where they use scissors.

Cutting pizzas in Italy with pizza scissors is a common practice for Sicilian pizzas or Roman-style pizzas.

It is easier to do this cut when you use a pizza scissor than pizza cutters.

Roma-style pizzas are cut in squares which means that you can cut it with precision.

That is why pizza scissors are perfect for this kind of cut especially with thin-crust pizzas like Sicilian pizza.
