Andmakers Fremont Wood-fired Pizza Oven Review

Andmakers Fremont Wood-fired Pizza Oven  caght my eye because it looked pretty similar to the ovens from Ooni. In this review we will discuss if this wood fired pizza oven is worth your money or not.

Pizza can be as common or as unique as you want it to be. There are a lot of pizza flavors or types that you can copy or make as a base for your unique pizza that you want to cook.

In order to make your pizza unique, you need to cook it at home. That way, you will be able to freely put any ingredients that you want and remove the parts that you do not want in the pizza.

You will have all the ingredients that you want and need plus you get to add any amount that you like. However, that only applies to the recipe itself and you will need something to cook it.

Conventional ovens are great as they are very versatile and convenient. However, they do not go up to the temperature that is needed in order to properly cook an authentic Neapolitan pizza for you.

They do produce heat but there are times where the pizza crust will end up soggy. This can be frustrating and will actually destroy the entire pizza even if the other ingredients are cooked.

That is why you need to learn a bit about how to properly cook an authentic pizza in order to know what you actually need. Luckily, we already have that for you, so you only need to cook.

Andmakers is a pizza brand under the name Gyber and they make decent wood fired pizza ovens. The company’s wood-fired oven is one of the best rated on Amazon and hence I was intruiged to see if it really does what it claims.

In order to know how it actually works, I took a look at the oven and its features. So if you want to know more about this pizza oven, read on as we get into the details of the said features.

Build and Setup

Pizza ovens are usually made portable in order to maximize the fuel efficiency of the chamber. This is true with the Andmakers wood-fired pizza oven as it does not look really large.

It can be set on a table as it is lightweight and quite compact. It is which only enhances the light stature of the pizza oven and for insulation too.

It does not have any complicated designs or controls as it is completely manual. That means that you need to look for the functions on how to properly raise or lower the temperature in it.

With its lightweight design, you can easily bring this pizza oven to campings and tailgating trips. You will be able to carry it as long as it is in short distances as it weighs a little over 30 pounds.

The assembly is pretty easy as you do not need professional help in order to assemble the parts. Within minutes, the pizza oven is ready to cook and you just need to load the fuel.

The same goes for the disassembly as you can easily take the parts away if you want to. This is perfect for ease of cleaning as you will be able to get deep inside the pizza oven if you need to.

What Fuel It Uses

Usually, these types of ovens use wood or charcoal in order to heat up the chamber. With the Andmakers wood-fired pizza oven, you are going to use wood pellets for the burners.

Pellets usually perform better than charcoal when you talk about authenticity. Wood pellets are able to give more authentic smoke than charcoal which makes them perfect for meat and pizza.

That’s right, you can also cook other foods in ths pizza oven. As long as the food fits in the chamber, you will be able to cook them fast and authentically so you have food along with the pizza.

This is also another advantage that wood-fired pizza ovens have over conventional ovens. You will never be able to get the authentic taste in conventional ovens that use electricity or propane.

But Doesn’t It Heat Up Slowly?

No, it does not. This pizza oven features a systemic ventilation system and along with its size, the small wood pellets are able to heat up the chamber to high temperatures in a quick manner.

Because of its small stature and stainless steel insulation, the pizza oven actually heats up pretty fast. All you need to do is load the pellets in the firebox and start the fire at the back.

From there, the pizza oven will be able to reach a temperature of over 800 degrees Fahrenheit. This is perfect for cooking pizzas in just a few minutes and will actually retain the heat.

Ventilation

With enough airflow inside the pizza oven, you will be able to keep the temperature steady with little to no effort. This is one of the reasons why this pizza oven can cook pizzas quickly.

If you look at the back of the oven, you will see a small box with two openings at its back. Inside the holes is a slanted platform with smaller round holes that are used to catch the wood pellets.

This small box has a handle that does not heat up even if it is near the firebox. But anyway, we are supposed to talk about the ventilation so that is exactly what the small holes are for.

See, the slanted platform is meant for letting the wood pellets slide freely into the fire pit. The holes at the back will then suck air into the firebox and keep the wood pellets ignited.

Aside from that, this pizza oven also has a chimney with a cap. The cap does not detach but it can be adjusted in order to limit or increase the amount of air that escapes the pizza oven.

Lastly, this pizza oven has doors in order to limit the airflow and retain the heat inside. However, the door has small holes at the bottom as well that lets air escape the chamber of the oven.

That way, you will not have to deal with the stagnancy of airflow in the pizza oven. It also enhances the distribution of heat in an even manner as it garners more air from the front.

Performance (Cooking In The Pizza Oven)

When I first used this pizza oven, I did not get really overwhelmed with its power. I have tried other pizza ovens that have more power than this one but it still impressed me on how it works.

The Andmakers wood-fired pizza oven is a truly innovative pizza oven that recreates what the old brick ovens do in the past. It was able to make the crispiest crusts on the pizza I cooked.

I was also entertained by the ease of temperature control as I only needed to move the door sideways or block the firebox a little bit and the temperature would immediately adjust inside.

The small increments in temperature changes allowed me to cook different recipes as well. Keeping track of the temperature was also a no-hassle as the thermometer is included.

Within 15 minutes, I was able to let the pizza oven reach an internal temperature of 800 degrees. This meant that within 3 minutes, my pizza was ready to be served hot and crispy.

The toppings were also perfectly cooked as the heat inside the pizza oven was evenly distributed. The cheese melted perfectly over the pizza toppings and browned beautifully.

I would suggest that you keep it away from any flammable materials or objects that can easily melt because once the chamber heats up, the outer parts start to get hot as well.

Cleaning The Pizza Oven

This is also a pretty easy task to do as it did not need much help from me. You can actually do what I always do with pizza ovens and clean them without actually using  any water and soap.

This pizza oven is made out of stainless steel so removing the dirt on the outer part will be as easy as wiping it with a clean cloth. The interior may have gathered soot since it uses pellets.

Now for me, I did not need to clean up the soot because as long as the food does not touch it, then there are no real threats from it. You just need to clean the soot on the doors if you need to.

As for the baking stone, it is one that you should never wash with water. If you know anything about baking or pizza stones, you should know that their mortal enemy is water or moisture.

In order to clean the pizza stone of this pizza oven, you only need to refuel the firebox and let it heat up for another 20 minutes. That way, you will burn the food residuals on the stone.

You can then put the fire out and then brush away the burnt and dislodged food residuals. Do not worry about the change in color as it is actually a good sign that it has been seasoned.

In order to have access to the interior of the pizza oven, you can again disassemble the parts. The chimney, door, baking stone, firebox, and handle are all removable for ease of access.

Accessories

Now, these features might not be the most important ones when it comes to cooking pizzas but it does add a lot of benefits. They can allow you to make the process easier and more versatile.

For example, this pizza oven has a grease pan that also adds to the ease of cleaning the pizza oven. All the moisture and the oil that you used in cooking will be caught by this pan to be disposed of.

You also get a grill handle along with this product that you can use in cooking other recipes. If you want to cook steak, you can use this handle to easily maneuver the meat inside the oven.

It also includes an oven grill that measures 13 inches across. You can use it to make barbecues that will be evenly cooked from the top to the bottom so there is hardly any need for rotating them.

Conclusion

The Andmakers Fremont Wood-fired Pizza Oven is perhaps one of the simplest pizza ovens in the market. It can be used by both beginners and professionals in cooking authentic pizzas.

There are a lot of features that you can take advantage of and use to make your pizza better. Within 5 minutes or less, your pizza will come out with an amazing flavor and a crispy crust.

It uses the smoke from the fuel to add a savory flavor to the pizza, perfect for meat toppings. So go ahead and get yours so you can start making your pizzas in your backyard or bring it anywhere outdoors.
