On the other hand, Pizza ovens like the Alfa Ciao Wood Fired Pizza Oven make sure that they give you the maximum temperature that you can achieve to cook different types of food.
Alfa is not the most famous company when you talk about pizza ovens, but they have a lot to offer.
You can choose from the many models that they have and get the best one for you.
The Ciao pizza oven is a new and versatile pizza oven that you can use to cook pizzas within a few minutes.
It is a powerful pizza oven that is also large enough for parties.
If you want a pizza oven that will be able to cater to large groups of people.
Then it would help if you read on to see what the Alfa Ciao Wood Fired Pizza Oven can offer for your huge backyard parties.
Setting Up of Alfa Ciao Wood Fired Pizza Oven
Although made primarily of lightweight materials, this pizza oven is pretty heavy because of its large design.
It also has some parts that are heavier than the majority of the materials used.
Setting this pizza oven up will be easy as you get to choose from three different types.
I mean that you can order just the pizza oven and use your stand at home.
You can also get the pizza oven stand, so you will not need to make space on your work table for the pizza oven.
Unfortunately, there is also a built-in version which is pretty heavy and expensive.
Once the Ciao pizza oven arrives at your home, you will be able to use it in just a few minutes.
The time of assembly still depends on the model that you choose to go with the pizza oven.
If you chose the stand, you would need to screw the wheels in place so you can adequately move it around your backyard.
The same goes with the built-in table option, as it will take some time.
There is also the option to get only the cooking chamber itself, but even that has some assembly needed before you can use it. First, attach the flue into the cooking chamber.
Screw the small legs underneath the pizza oven so that the cooking chamber does not stick or sit right on the table that you put the pizza oven on. From there, you can fire up the pizza oven.
Make sure to allow the pizza oven to burn all the contaminants first before cooking in it.
Then, let it burn at maximum temperature for at least an hour to remove any residuals inside the oven.
Build Quality of Alfa Ciao Wood Fired Pizza Oven
When buying a pizza oven, look for the labels and see the materials used to make them.
That way, you will know how durable and sturdy they are.
The Alfa Ciao Wood Fired Pizza Oven is like most of the models from Alfa as it is made mainly of stainless steel.
It has a large sheet of steel, so its roof is a smooth, continuous dome.
Some parts have a powder-coated finish, such as the front part.
This makes the pizza oven last longer as it blocks off both rain and sunshine from the outside.
The flue and the legs are both made from stainless steel as well and are very sturdy.
As long as you screw them properly into the body of the pizza oven, they will hardly shake or move.
The wheels on the pizza oven has a softer form of plastic, which can move over tough terrains.
So you can let it pass over sand, soil, and grass without any hassle.
While the pizza oven is pretty heavy at almost 200 pounds, including its stand, you can easily move it with the wheels’ help.
In addition, you can transfer it anywhere you want when needed.
I would not recommend it, but some reviews say that this pizza oven is perfect for tailgating, beach picnics, campings, and other outdoor activities where you would want a pizza.
I have not personally tried it, but I still have better and lighter options for cooking outside the house or when on the move. It is up to you as long as you can move it around.
The Cooking Chamber
Since we know about the shape of the dome, this pizza oven can heat the interior pretty quickly without using too much fuel.
It is not only the stainless steel that contributes to this part.
The shape of the dome itself is also helpful in making sure that the heat is retained and distributed correctly inside without you having to refill the wood fuel too frequently.
Another feature that helps in this is ceramic fiber insulation.
This is excellent insulation that allows the stainless steel to retain the heat for longer than other double-walled pizza ovens.
The thick insulation is also what makes the pizza oven very efficient.
It does not need much fuel to reach high temperatures, nor does it need to retain the heat with these features.
The door of the pizza oven is also helpful in controlling the temperature by managing the fire.
There is an ergonomic handle on the door made out of wood to not burn yourself.
You also do not need to place the door far from you as there are two holes below the oven’s opening where you can set the door, so it is always ready if you need to close the oven.
Cooking Area of the Alfa Ciao Wood Fired Pizza Oven
Although there are features that help keep the interior of the cooking chamber in check, there are also some features on the cooking floor that help you cook the best pizzas.
The oven floor of the Alfa Ciao Wood Fired Pizza Oven has interchangeable firebricks.
They are one and a half inches thick, which means they can absorb a lot of heat when cooking.
The cooking floor is around 27 inches wide, which means that it is large enough to cook up to two pizzas at a time.
This is perfect for making pizzas for many people at your parties.
Firebricks were used in the brick ovens while making the first pizzas in Italy.
These materials are great at absorbing heat and redistributing it inside the pizza oven evenly.
This makes the pizzas better as they cook from all sides.
The air around them is also heated properly, so the pizza does not necessarily dry out, but it will not also stay too raw.
The fire bricks also help in making the crust of the pizza crispier.
In addition, since they absorb a lot of heat, they can remove any unnecessary moisture on the dough of the pizza you are cooking.
Cooking With The Alfa Ciao Pizza Oven
This pizza oven is one of the easiest pizza ovens that I have ever used.
There is not much needed for the preparation, and it helps that I have dealt with other wood-fired pizza ovens in the past.
Building the fire was pretty easy, although you recommended that you use the right wood for the pizza oven.
Unfortunately, there is only a small area inside the pizza oven dedicated to the wood fuel.
When I cooked with the pizza oven, I only needed around 15 minutes, and it was able to reach its maximum temperature.
From there, I started cooking and made pizzas in just 90 seconds.
This pizza oven was able to reach a maximum temperature of 1000 degrees Fahrenheit.
This is hot enough to cook pizzas in just 60 seconds and have the pizza’s crispiest crusts.
It was effortless to manage as I just needed to open or close the pizza oven’s door to adjust the draught and the temperature.
I knew when to do this with the help of the pyrometer on the side.
The pyrometer was placed strategically on the side of the door to see it right away.
I could easily adjust the temperature inside the pizza oven by looking at the pyrometer.
Cleaning the Alfa Ciao Wood Fired Pizza Oven
Once done cooking, you will need to clean the pizza oven.
Remember always to do this after every use so that the food residuals, soot, and other contaminants do not gather inside it.
Wipe the stainless steel outer parts with paper towels as there is no need to wash them with soap and water every time.
Finally, brush off the soot and other residuals inside the pizza oven.
Since this pizza oven can reach a temperature of 1000 degrees Fahrenheit, you can also remove the food residuals by pyrolyzing them or heating them for many minutes.
After cooking, reheat the pizza oven once again and allow it to burn at its maximum temperature somewhere around 45 minutes and an hour. This burns off the food residuals and bacteria.
After that, brush the food residuals off and then allow the pizza oven to cool down.
It is perfect for fire bricks, so they do not break easily when washed with water.
Place the pizza oven inside a shed or leave it outside.
Just make sure that you use a cover not to leave the pizza oven bare and exposed to the sun, rain, and animals out.
Conclusion
For someone who loves pizza and parties, this pizza oven is the perfect appliance for me.
I made multiple pizzas in just 90 seconds, and the results are more than pleasing.
